Idk man.. if Caliendo thinks he's got a way better chance to win at title at 157 than beating Mess.. (he'd be right).. it might be enough for him to try
Couple of things. PJ duke being one of them. PJ duke is incredibly good and caliendo will have just as much trouble winning that match. Let’s also not ignore the fact that Shapiro was in a coma a couple weeks before nationals this year and is still world class if he ever stays healthy. Not really sure what happened there or if he will ever be healthy.

Caliendo started to crack the movement code that Mesenbrink causes havoc with. He’s the first wrestler outside of Carr and Hamiti (sort of) to slow Mesenbrink down. But also, Lockett enters the mix.

Don't believe it's been said by him publicly but it's definitely on the table. It would allow PK and Gabe to wrestle the weights they should be at and give him a better opportunity at a title
Older worn out guys who cut down is weight.. seems like that strategy rarely plays out favorably. If Iowa pulls it off, which I’m doubting, these guys will be busted goods at the end of the year. Which is also an Iowa specialty so nothing new

Still TBD if Kasak or Duke will RS . I can see Duke starting at 157 not sure he holds that weight but 1 year. Kasak could RS and go 157 the following year with Duke in RS. Then Kasak 157 and Duke 165 after Mitchell is gone. If they wrestle Kasak this year and RS Duke then one would lose a year with Mitchell still on the team.

Which is why I think duke goes, but Kasak might not be willing to sit. Not that I think Kasak wins that match, but that’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Cael always seems to get his guys to do whatever is best for the program long term. So I think Kasak will say ok and RS

True.

Trumble, Bastida, Keuter, maybe they put the kid from Campbell (Michigan) up there.
Which heavyweights can keep it close with bastida? If he can figure out a way to stay healthy I see a pretty clear path to the finals unless someone takes a huge leap. I have to think he’s a heavy favorite at the weight.

I can’t believe Penn state is going to roll with the lesser of the mirasola brothers. Still not buying it. I think they find a way to replace him before it’s all said and done, but I’m not sure who.

I think Cole is the favorite in Vegas over Ross, Coby Merrill and Hopke

You’re probably right, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Ross wins that. Cole got beat by Feldman 10-3 in February though so he’s a far cry from an AA lock
I think the experience of being in a D1 room for a year will be the difference for Cole. Connor and Cody Merrill at 92kg will be interesting

Could be right, but it was middle of February and he lost to luffman 0-4 that same weekend. For some kids I don’t put much stock into developing as much because kids like him have been in RTC and high level rooms for years. This weekend could be telling

He's definitely had high level coaching but the workout partners are what will get him over the hump. Luffman would major Ross right now I think

Maybe, but Ross has a huge arc of development in my opinion. He can still put on a lot of size to his frame. He also doesn’t have near the partners his size at sebolt that mirasola had at AWA in high school. And I’m pretty sure the brothers moved to happy valley right away in the spring so they’ve been there nearly a year now. All that to say I still don’t think mirasola is a lock to AA next year

Mirasola probably weighed what, 220 soaking wet? I’d pick him against Luffman next season.
