Ortega at 33 has been foretold to be getting eligibility so that would be an additional wrinkle…and by accounts it won’t be a “wrestle-off” it’s his position, he’s “that good”. So we shall see if that comes to fruition, if it does giddy-up
My experience with babies makes this a little ambiguous.
I mean the guy deserves at least one year… he defected from Cuba rather than casually coming to America like Ono for PSU who is going to get multiple years of eligibility. Like I said, threaten to sue the NCAA and he’ll get a year or 2.
Once Vegas is over at the end of April we see more guys portal. They want to keep training for the open in the room prior. Imagine we see Larkin portal after the open

I could see NCAA not wanting to grant eligibility to international wrestlers that old. Imagine back in 1996 if some team was just like.. yeah 28 year old Aleksander Karelin is our HWT now lol. Seems like that could get out of hand.

Saw this last night and was pretty shocked. I assumed all was well and he was on his way to recovery. Sounds like it got very serious. Not sure how this affects his wrestling status for next year, but honestly, more concerned about his ability to live a healthy life going forward.
Usually with a PICC line used for what I assume is a bone infection it stays in for a couple months or so. The meds are hopefully effective enough to finally clear the infection. If all goes well I would assume he'll be back training by mid summer. Here's to a speedy recovery!
