***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

There’s been a lot of talk about how the CFP will affect these coaching searches. If coaches make and advance in the playoffs, will AD’s be patient enough to wait to make a decision until those are done? Is a coach like Kiffin sleazy enough to be interviewing when his team is getting ready for the playoffs? Cause in this day and age there is zero chance that stays secret. It is t like Pollard is running these searches.

I will never put anything past Kiffin. Although he seems to be getting older and calming down. Even getting back with is ex wife and listening to his kids about coaching changes

I know this is an inherently subjective ranking but I don’t think Oklahoma can be that low. It’s basically just as easy of a drive for a recruit from the Dallas area to get to Norman as it is to go to Texas or A&M and there is a long history of top recruits in Texas heading up to Oklahoma to play.

I’m not saying OU should be at the same level as Texas or anything but I don’t think that can be considered a bottom half of the league job either given the long list of Heisman trophy winners and playoff appearances and everything else.
I don't think OU has the funds of the other places. Even though OU is only a few hours from Texas its still not "in-state" and there isn't anything really any place except South of Oklahoma. It was pretty fertile when they were in the Big 12 but its probably not much better than Missouri or Arkansas in terms of local talent

Va Tech
Arkansas
FSU most likely
Michigan State most likely
Kentucky most likely
NC State possibly

SEC alone will have at least 4 and if Beamer goes to VA Tech it would be 5.
Sparty is 100% (donors have already been outreached and smith was going against their wishes) new AD that didn’t hire him and the alumni want him gone.

FSU will also be open after this collapse

Why would Brian Kelly take a cut?
Retire dude, get it all.
I don't think it's a cut it's how many years to pay it. Or maybe there is x $$ due by Dec 31st and LSU wants to negotiate a different payment plan or lower first installment

136 FBS teams. 12 interim coaches, and it's still October.

Arkansas
Colorado State
Florida
Kent State*
LSU
Oklahoma State
Oregon State
Penn State
Stanford*
UAB
UCLA
Virginia Tech

He must pursue other jobs. Doesn’t mean they have to hire him.
This...

I always thought those requirements are wonky. I know someone that was on unemployment years ago, and was required to attempt to get a job, in order to continue payment. He said he just applied for jobs he had no qualifications and no chance of ever getting.

In no world is Florida above Bama and LSU.

If we're talking strictly about onfield success over the last two decades, agreed. However, I'm not 100% certain that equates to a "better job". I keep getting reminded that Alabama and LSU don't have the money that most people think they have. Meanwhile, it's hard to imagine that Florida doesn't have an insane amount of money. If they can ever get their **** together it's not hard to imagine them being a better job than Alabama or LSU - especially in this age where money means so much more.

So many openings. If you fire your coach now, are you really going to find someone better?

And an endless supply of h.s. football talent and Gainesville is unreal. LSU benefits from being the biggest show in the state so its got some recruiting advantage that even Bama doesn't have.

But Louisiana also suffers from low financial demographics. So in this world of NIL, walking in with a bag of money may mean more to those kids and their families. I just don’t know if local talent means as much as it used to.

Campbell’s low buyout is going to be appealing to schools that just spent tens of millions to get rid of their coach.

So, might as well tank at this point to make sure he’s undesirable to fanbases looking for the fix to their problems?

I agree with that. Especially teams that are completely unstable like a Florida. Florida needs a guy to come in and get that program into shape. Does not mean a National Title, Just needs to get it back in to compete for titles. Campbell could do that. I don't see him being a National Champion coach unless Ohio State or someone with all the money to just out spend everyone on talent.

UCLA is a job that isn't that good anymore. Nobody is showing up and nobody cares. Basically with the exception of Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and Washington. The old Pac 12 just has nobody that cares. Cal get's like 10k a game to show up, same with Stanford, UCLA. West Coast just don't care about college football.
