Since all these guys are old, soft, and not good, what exactly would you like the roster to look like? Good luck putting together a better one than this lol

I'd play small. Embiid's game isn't meant for this kind of basketball. Start Davis and spell him with Bam. Not playing Tyrese is inexcusable. On a team of completely ball dominant players, you have to have a facilitator. It's no wonder they go through the scoring droughts when it's all iso 1-on-1 basketball. Outside of Haliburton, your only other willing passer is probably Holiday and maybe Lebron.

Anyone catch the insanity of that Morocco/Argentina soccer match? Just read what all happened. Not a great way to start the Olympics.

Insane amount of stoppage time, fans storming the pitch, everyone thinking the match was over at a draw, only to just find out two hours later that Argentina’s last-second goal was disallowed due to VAR review. Holy **** what a wave of emotion for those players.

I read about it but how much stoppage time was there? I never seen that

15 minutes of stoppage time and the tying goal (at the time) was actually in the 16th minute. Now, they have made it a point to actually have the referee add in all of the time wasting, but 15 seemed insanely excessive watching it live. Ten minutes seemed like an appropriate amount on the top end. 15 was crazy to see and then it didn’t even end at 15.

I have never seen that much stoppage time. Not once. I think the most I have ever seen was 11 or 12 minutes. Unless a major injury happens

Soccer timing is just weird, man.

Yes, we play for 45 straight minutes, letting that clock run, but when it runs out the referee makes a guess at how much playing time wasn’t used, and he adds that on, and when we get to the end of that (which is mostly in the referee’s head, you understand), that still not might be the end of the match if there’s an attack happening.

You know what, it’s over when you hear the whistle, we’ll just leave it at that.

I like soccer but I agree. Just stop the clock like every other sport. When the time runs out, it's over.

After watching insanely short stoppage times of the Euros and Copa, it’s funny to this go the opposite way.

But, is anyone surprised that when there’s chaos with fans and time wasting that a South American team was involved?

It was just wild to watch because it really almost felt like they were determined to give Argentina the chance with that much stoppage time to get a tying goal, which they got in the 16th minute. I don’t believe that to be the case at all, but you just knew that’s where many fans would go and sure enough that’s what was circulating post match.

However, the insane twist to basically restart the match after clearing the stadium and to then do the VAR review to disallow the Argentina goal hours later is just wild. Crazy theater lol

I don't generally watch much Olympic soccer, but I've had it on my phone at work most of the day and have enjoyed it more than I thought. I'm watching the US/France match now. Schulte had a busy half, and held up well enough. France looks faster, more physical, more skilled and more poised than us, but we've kept it at a draw so far. We also had a couple decent chances that weren't far off from touching net.

It hasn't been pretty, but we have been mostly decent dealing with France's high pressure. But, wow, we are not good defending set pieces and are playing with fire if we keep giving away cheap corners.

Opening ceremony is pretty underwhelming thus far. About as exciting as a televised parade.

I think having two 5s that struggle to stay healthy may have been a bad move but maybe it'll be fine in a short spurt.

Globally basketball is just so different now and USA's best just may not hold up as well.

Embiid and AD are redundant players. Thats a wasted spot imo. If I were building this squad I would 100% have Jalen Brunsen on it.

I do expect them to play better, but this team is a combination of old, soft and just not particularly good.

- LeBron is 85
- Anthony Davis is fragile, and yet one of the more physical guys we have
- Curry is old and dinged up
- Embiid is a gigantic puss
- Durant isn’t playing because of an injury (he’s probably the key to this team winning) and…old
- Tatum isn’t old, but he’s a flake
- Jrue Holiday is a decent defensive player, but nothing special and, well, he’s old
- Booker is nothing special/ bordering on terrible
- Adebayo is nothing special
- Derrick White? Give me a break
- Haliburton has apparently been benched
- Anthony Edwards is a stud, but I just don’t know if he’s ready for this kind of basketball yet. It should be good experience for him

Just not a good roster. Add to it Kerr sucks, and here we are.

They should medal, but even that isn’t a guarantee. If they win gold, I will be absolutely shocked.
3 of the guys you flamed here just won a ring last month. Let's pump the breaks a bit
