Not really. He has really struggled to keep his teams and fans onboard for a very long time. Donors hate him. He’s really struggled recruiting, especially in skill positions. The teams don’t seem to develop as the season goes on; actually the opposite. He’s clearly passionate about his work, but some things just run out of steam. He’s their DMac - can build a competitive foundation, but somebody else is needed to take it to the next level. Just like startup CEOs often suck once the company has boomed.
I’d argue this is the best time there is going to be for OSU because there is an opportunity for someone with resources like OSU, Utah, etc to start gaining traction as a top tier conference foe now that the 2 bigger dogs left. The last thing they can afford at this particular time is for ISU, KSU, UCF, ASU, etc to become the top tier without them.
