***2022 PGA Tour Thread***

I will be curious what happens this fall. If the LIV Tour can sign 10-15 players out of the PGA Top 75, it could make the rivalry interesting. Simultaneously, if they can attract some of the top US college talent and young international talent- they could make things intesting in 2023.

But as long as their target golfers are guys past their prime like Johnson, Mickelson, Poulter, etc. The LIV Events will basically be exhibitions.

Also their broadcast shtick needs to move on from how they are different and better than the PGA. Stick to guys making great shots and awesome courses.
I'm just not sure how it overcomes being soulless when the guys there are only there to compete less and make a ton of money. It's just inherently uncompetitive and I have no desire to watch. I'm not sure I'd watch if Tiger and Rory went because it just doesn't feel like a real competition. Maybe I'm the exception.

i tried to watch last week for a few minutes and i couldnt even understand the scoreboard so i quit.

What! You didn't like the scoreboard with name abbreviations like D.JSN for the TOP 18 players.

I would think for $125M they could spell out DJ's name.

i made it a game and was trying to guess.

i could only get I.PTR and C.SZL

If Morikawa goes, I will officially have to start watching the LIV and I won't be happy about it

Agree…. it’s not even competitive golf anymore IMO if you’re making a hundred million just to show up to 8-10 events. It’s an exhibition. No thanks.

Why? Morikawa doesn’t move the needle much for me. And Koepka and Bryson deserve one another….. both d-bags.
I decided to pick Morikawa as my favorite golfer in 2020 once the tour resumed after the brief COVID shutdown. Since then he has won quite a few times and has really increased my fandom. Plus it is fun to watch him flush his irons (outside of this year).

It’s likely he’ll become irrelevant now playing on this worthless tour. His choice though.

Are any of these guys losing their sponsors? Why sponsor someone that’s no longer on TV?

They can still play in majors, and if more stars go (like a Xander, Hovland, Cantlay, or others) it will become a pretty relevant tour. I think the PGA is going to have to end up changing their stance on permanent suspensions if they want to remain the top league, or else the Saudi's are going to buy up a lot of the stars and it is going to be awful for the sport of golf

Good for the players to cash stupid money but 100% agree. When you make 90%+ of your money by showing up, it’s not really a competition. Exhibition is definitely the right word. At least we’ll have 3 majors to see everyone come together again.
