NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

They basically flipped a guy who didn't want to be there for a position of significant need. They are in dire need of more skill positions on offense, and at 6'4 238, they don't have anyone else like Claypool on the roster. He's a compliment to Mooney.

That said, if Fields hadn't started to show signs of potential the last two weeks, I doubt they're making this move.

This season is still pretty well lost, but if they spend the off-season focusing on acquiring oline help, they could take a step forward next year.
So their offense takes a step forward next season while the defense takes 2 steps back losing their 2 best players? I don't understand what their goal is.

Yeah. I think that's exactly the plan. Offense sells tickets. Their defense has been middle of the pack with Smith and Quinn. Smith doesn't want to be there and Quinn is old. This season is already in the tank, so how much is there really worth preserving on defense?

On the offense, they now have a legitimate 1-2 wr tandem, a serviceable tight end, an above average running back and a young QB who's shown promise the last few weeks. Hit free agency hard for offensive line and you can roll into next year feeling optimistic. Not a super bowl team or a division winner, but you can feel like you're making progress. They gave up a ton of capital to get Fields. I think they want to give him the best shot they can.

Roquan wanted $100 million to be an off ball LB. Let someone else give him that money hes not worth highest paid LB in the game money. Roquan didnt want to be in Chicago and the Bears maximized the asset.

Quinn is 32 and is only 2 years removed from a 2 sack season with the Bears. My only issue is this trade should have happened in August not October.

I am not worried about the Bears finding replacements on defense. See what you have in your QB this year and make moves to be competitive in 2023 in a division that is quite frankly not going to be any good.

A little surprised we haven't seen Kareem Hunt going anywhere yet. He's on my FF team and I wouldn't mind seeing his value increase so I can trade him for a better receiver.

Well still have a little over and hour to go. Still may happen.

Miami is going all in.

yep.

On another note (saw on ESPN) Miami turned the #3 pick in the 2021 NFL draft into Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, and Bradley Chubb.

of course they also had to dish out dumptrucks worth of cash to the latter two players, but still.

That's a pretty incredible haul.

So here's what's even better about the Bears, they gave up their own 2nd round pick, not Baltimore's for Claypool.

So they essentially got picks 55-60 for Roquan but then they traded picks in the 30-35 range for Claypool.

The stupidity of that front office is astounding. That's why they haven't won anything in almost 40 years.

That’s not “better,” about the bears (being a bears fan myself). The one thing I can agree with you on with regards to all of their trade talks on this board today though is their stupidity. It is mind blowing how idiotic they are.

I'm kind of surprised that the Packers didn't do anything today. Not saying that they should have made a blockbuster trade, but a wide receiver would make a big difference on that team.

I still can't understand the Packers not doing something, I get that we aren't great this year, but by doing nothing how is next year going to be better. They always think they can build through the draft, which they can, but players take at least 2-3 yrs to develop, we don't have that much time with Rodgers. It's infuriating to say the least as a big fan of theirs.

This is the exact reason Rodgers has been so upset for years. All energy goes toward the defense (which is still suspect at times) at the complete disregard to offense. Had they had a few strong options on the outside, they would have won at least 1 SB in the past 5 years regardless of the cost to defense. They’ve completely wasted his prime.
