NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

Sounds like Green Bay was in om Chase Claypool as well, and had a similar offer to Chicago, but Pittsburgh felt the Bears pick would end up being higher

So here's what's even better about the Bears, they gave up their own 2nd round pick, not Baltimore's for Claypool.

So they essentially got picks 55-60 for Roquan but then they traded picks in the 30-35 range for Claypool.

The stupidity of that front office is astounding. That's why they haven't won anything in almost 40 years.
Packers offered their 2nd round pick so Bears had to offer theirs instead of the Ravens one.

I'm kind of surprised that the Packers didn't do anything today. Not saying that they should have made a blockbuster trade, but a wide receiver would make a big difference on that team.

Honestly feel like they should’ve been sellers at this point (feels the same for pretty much nfc central team to be honest). The next few years seems like it could be wide open in that division.

The more I think about the roquan smith trade the more flabbergasted I am that they only got a 2nd round pick for it (and then proceeded to trade it away). The broncos got a first round pick for chubb…. Who has 1/3 of the tackles that smith has on the season…

They got a 5th as well, right? Turn Smith into Claypool and a 5th round pick, that seems decent.

I also think Roquans tackle stats are probably inflated by the fact that no one else on the bears can tackle well. Although im basing that on previous years more than this year since I live out of market.

Smith leads the nfl on tackles…. Maybe I’m higher on him than most but the drop off from him to the next option (sorry I’m not trying to tag on AJ Klein) seems like they got the shaft. Especially since the fins got a first rounder for Chubb who (again maybe I’m undervaluing?) pulled in a first round pick. To me there is a huge difference in value between a first round pick and a second round pick. And how often do you see a fifth rounder make a football team?

He also had 2.5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 3 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions.

Maybe they thought they wouldn't be able to resign him after this year and this was the best offer they got?

Tackles don't really mean all that much as a statistic. They're not even an official statistic. There's not even a uniform way of recording them and the totals for each game should be considered pretty subjective.

Additionally, Roquan Smith is an inside linebacker, while Chubb is an edge, a position that's just valued more than an ILB.
