Tied for 5th with TCU right now right?
Yup. I'm messing with that Big 12 tourney generator and IF (it's a big if obviously) we beat WVU, we still could fall to the 7 seed but that would mean TCU beats Texas at home and OU on the road (both possible but not sure it happens) and OSU beating Baylor at home and Texas Tech on the road (also possible but not probable).

If we lose to WVU really need to root against TCU and OSU to lose as much as possible to stay away from the 7 seed. We would need OSU to lose both actually (assuming we lose to Baylor as well) because they hold the tiebreaker over us.

So this week we need:
  • ISU over WVU
  • Texas over TCU (at Fort Worth)
  • Baylor over Oklahoma State (in Stillwater)
If those three results happen, by my math if ISU loses at Baylor and TCU and OSU win their last game we actually could get the 5 seed. And we'd likely play 4 seed KSU. Not a bad draw IMO.

So we'll know a lot after Wednesday

LOL I asked a different bracket guru on Twitter if ISU loses out and has a really bad losing streak going into NCAA what's their floor for seeding?

'Depending on other teams...probably 6.'

i.e...we are fine

Has there ever been a team playing really well or on a winning streak entering the tournament that lost in the first game?

Because that would be wild if the tournament were super unpredictable or something despite what happened prior.

Hell people just need to look at Alabama last year. Had a bunch of big wins, some bad losses, lost 3 straight and 4 of 6 to finish the season at 19-13 and got a 6-seed.
