And if they aren't, should we not be satisfied with our personal life?

Maybe I'll quit my steady job and move to the city to make it in big business, do a little acting. I just need to be more ambitious you know?

I hoped today would be 80 degrees and sunny here in MN, but it's 30 and cloudy. Guess I just need to spend my day being irrationally angry over something I don't control and strive harder for better weather tomorrow.

Or I could just be thrilled that TJ immediately pulled this program out of the ******* trash heap, entertains me twice a week, and just signed a top ten recruiting class.

It's ben 6 years since we won double digit Big 12 games. How is going 11-7 "status quo". That's far above the norm, especially given the strength of the conference this year.
I just think its a loser mentality when we've been at the top of the conference 60% of the year now but then people have the "well, we were projected for 8th anyways".

Purdue and Xavier were both projected 6th or 7th in their conferences. I bet their fans are just hoping for a 6 seed at this point?

So should we be worried about what paranoid segments of other fanbases are concerned with?

You need to improve your life and move to a place that satisfies your weather preference every day or else ISU basketball won't win enough.

Or it is just accepting reality that the conference is loaded at the top and it is extremely difficult to win on the road. ISU's roster isn't some super talented roster. The probably are at the bottom in terms of talent among all the Big 12 contenders.

You're a glutton for punishment if you are entertained twice a week. I'm very entertained once per week, the other game I get to watch epic meltdowns and choke jobs followed up by corrupt officiating.

Ok so this is all on purpose right? Like parodying yourself kind of thing?

What does that have to do with what the team on the screen or court does though?

If you go to the game and someone says 'well at least they're in the tourney; it's a real crap shoot as it is' do you tell them they must not do enough in life and have a loser's mentality?

I think you're expectations are irrational. You're setting the maximum possible outcome as your expectation. That's not rational. It's rational to hope for the best possible outcome, but the expectation needs to be lower than that. My expectation coming into the season was to make the NCAA tournament. Then it shifted a little bit as we got better and is now set at finishing at .500 or better in the conference and a top 6 seed. My hope is we still win the conference and finish something like 12-6.

I think there is a big difference between what fans hope happens, and what fans should set as the minimum expectation.

I don't watch sports to make my life miserable. I watch sports to get enjoyment, so I usually take a "glass half full" approach.

I ended up settling the civil suit with the railroad for the damage done to the train.

Being angry a team projected in the 8-9-10 range before the season being tied for second in the conference and cruising to the NCAA tournament is, to be blunt, incredibly ******* unreasonable.

I want to win too but goodness me be reasonable. TJ is in his second year. If you keep putting expectations like this on him and the program you're going to end up hating him like you did Prohm.

This is a thread for the computer geeks to talk about nerdy things. If you want to complain yet again this is unacceptable to you, then there are a thousand other threads for exactly that purpose.

Just relax. Last night was frustrating, but I'm looking forward to watching them play live on Saturday. I have a ticket behind the ISU bench for the matchup with OSU -- never sat around there before.

:D

Go CF live for us will ya? Update on everything that's said, maybe yell things like 'Make shots!' and 'This team is so stupid' to see how long they allow you there.

Sports, especially CBB are like a rollercoaster with constant ebbs and flows throughout the years and us fan's expectations go along with those ebbs and flows. Did anyone here have expectations of winning the Big 12 back when we lost to Iowa? Not a chance. But last night we all did.

Our expectations shouldn't change from last night in that we still do have a chance to win the Big 12. How do we do that? We win the games in front of us. The season isn't lost and neither is the conference race. Win the next two games at home and we're sitting at second in the conference going into the weekend game against KSU for probably another tie for first.

Idk about anyone of you but that probably fits my expectations as of today. Still being in contention for the overall title in the best conference in the nation? Yeah, sign me right up.

I think it is possible to hope they win every game, and yet be able to objectively understand they can't and won't win every game. These are two thoughts that can be grasped simultaneously.

In fact it isn't even really all that difficult.

I was in the '.500 overall, probably come back down a bit after last year' column but here we are.

The hope now is hold on for a solid tourney bid, anything else is icing. To me it still looks like ISU is the least physically talented team in the conference for size/speed/skill so the achievements are really great imo.

So being a winner means you have a total disregard for everything that's been accomplished and act like a petulant child when things don't go your way. Got it.

It's one of the most experienced teams in the conference but one of the least talented if you're going off raw star ratings, athleticism, size, etc., all those measurables Baylor, KU, and Texas always rule. There are exactly ZERO four- or five-star recruits on the roster. Watson has the highest recruiting rankings. The fact that the whole is so much greater than the sum of the parts is an impressive bit of coaching.

Lol. 52000 Cave posts my dude.

I would put you at 95% Cave, 4% nonpolitical off-topic, and maybe 1% on-topic.

And I love every one of them.
