2016 Rio Summer Olympics

Do you know what happened to Destinee Hooker? I know she just had a baby a few months ago which obviously prevented her from playing in these Olympics, but I couldn't find much information if she was playing previous to that. The latest I could find was her playing in 2013.

When the team started getting put together, (before Hooker was pregnant with this baby), she and Logan Tom were clearly being left out. Rumor was Kiraly had an ego and clashed with some of the bigger names from London. There was a lot of discontent with the lineup chosen, especially with Courtney Thompson being named. I saw lots of comments that we did not have a lot of depth in our bench and Thompson (who has some injuries and essentially can't play) was a spot better given to someone else. It sounds like Foluke going down really hurt us.

Well....have them blowing up balloons and you have a new meaning to hookers and blow

I have been avoiding this thread because I have been behind the last couple days, but I'm curious what you guys think about the reactions of some about the Lochte. First I will start with Lochte has the maturity of Zac Efron in Neighbors but regardless of that people are acting like they completely made up the story. They obviously shouldn't have made up the part about getting pulled over, but people seem to be ignoring that they were still kind of robbed at the gas station.

I also think the Brazilian reaction was way overdone. If the complainant of a crime doesn't want to cooperate with the investigation and you have as much crime to deal with that the police there have to deal with don't waste time and resources.

Dang...Burroughs got beat in the quarters. :(
Yea... and I'm not sure I agree with that second push out point at all. Seemed way too early to call that one at full speed.

However, it was World #1 vs. World #2 in the quarter finals, pretty much creating a gold medal match way too early.

The downside to blind draws.
Guess now we have to root for the Russian in his next match. o_O

Anyone else catch the Puerto Rican false start in the 400 meter hurdle finals? Even with his lane 3 draw I thought he was the silver medalist favorite (probably would have finished 3rd, that Kenyan ran phenomenal). The American won it, but I couldn't help but feel bad for the guy.

I didn't see this, but I agree with feeling bad for a false start. You train 4 years for this moment and it is taken away from you because of an early start. I'm not hating on the rule, I actually think it is probably right the way they have it ruled, but it is still a heart-breaker for these runners.

I feel sorry for him and I don't. It sucks he put in all that work and it is gone in an instant. But at the same time why was he so jumpy for a 400 meter race. Pretty much anything that is lost at the start of any race other than a 100 meters can be made up on track. Pretty stupid to be that antsy you try to jump the gun. Plus he was one of the favorites. Not like he was racing Bolt and need every .0001 of a second he could get.

Yeah I get that and agree. It was funny watching the Bahrain runner in the 100m final false-start and he kinda just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. The commentators were laughing like, "Hey, he knew he had to try and get every advantage so he was just trying to jump the gun perfectly and he almost did it! He may be disqualified but he was doing everything he could to have a chance at getting a medal." I thought it was interesting to see, but it makes total sense in the 100m, especially when you are going against the likes of Bolt, Gatlin, and De Grasse.
