I had never realized/thought about how in the 50m free, nobody takes a breath. It makes sense, I had just never thought about it. But that is nothing, as far as how long they hold their breath, because of how fast they are going.

In those longer races, I think those guys could go forever underwater on the turn without breathing so now they have a mark where they have to come up. Otherwise I can see them going half the pool length underwater on the fly. Phelps is just a master of the turn.

I agree. But I was just talking about the 50m freestyle. Not about 50m of a freestyle race

Unfortunate that soccer is out. I was watching the ESPN play by play update and then Press missed her goal, this is what is said.

"Penalty missed! Bad penalty by Christen Press (USA) right footed shot is just a bit too high. Christen Press should be disappointed."

Found that surprising because I don't really expect commentary when reading play by play's.

You are manufacturing controversy. I think it is great that they even mentioned her bronze medal. I actually watched her competition and it is great that she won, but it wasn't really news. Do you really think that a famous woman's partner/spouse wouldn't have had a nearly identical tweet.
