High School Sports Thread

When Urbandale didn't join you could see that the conference was screwed. Like you said, the 3 big schools should just bite the bullet after DCG leaves, cause they will.
The problem is- those schools do not have CIML invites and they may not be coming at this time

RRMR and North Butler are going to be discussing the possibility of sharing sports and some academic programs.

Would Clarksville be completely out of the picture then? They were sharing wrestling with NB and at one time football but not sure if they still do.
No idea. Just came across this information when scrolling the interweb. Thought I'd share. I know Rockford has been struggling to field a football team so this will be good for the boys that want to play football. They haven't won a game since 2021 forfeiting two seasons according to their gobound.

They are meeting this evening to discuss options. Nothing is even close to finalized from what I have read.

Exira-EHK and Audubon meeting about sharing sports programs. Audubon needs help on the girls side, where EEHK is solid and EEHK needs help on the boys side. EEHK had to cancel their varsity football season bc they didn't have the numbers but Audubon isn't interested in helping them there bc they would be bumped to 1A and EEHK would bring almost nothing to to the table. It's interesting that EEHK would be so willing to agree to something w/o football being included.

Newman is playing the team that knocked out Saint Ansgar who finished infront of Newman in the conference. A lot comes down to pitching rotation in these small schools. If you burned your top pitcher or two before substate you may be screwed. Everyone should have their #1 pitcher available now.

Early tests are showing they have a smaller sweet spot and aren't any hotter than a -3 BBCOR.

Was going to share this too. So it's good that they are not juicing hitting, but it seems like a dumb thing to add, at least for varsity. Let them swing them in JV, but if you can't swing a 32" -3, or even a 31" -3, how on earth are you playing varsity? The -3 bats are going to be hotter, so the bigger and stronger kids are still going to swing them. The smaller kids will probably just swing a shorter -3.

All in all, some kids might swing them, but I bet you'll see very few in varsity games as it goes on.

For the millionth time, this is all nonsense. The state associations need to get together on this and create some conferences that get good competitive scheduling and reasonable travel.
Pella Christian is asking the state for assistance in finding a new conference since it appears they are not wanted by anyone, yet they want out of the Little Hawkeye.
