2016 Rio Summer Olympics

They should have the cameraman pan down a few degrees on these US women's celebrations. I know it's not happening, but the angle they have the camera right now looks like their celebration is: high five-hug-slap on the hoohah.
Is that not what's happening?

Holy ****, the leader of the women's bike race just flipped and looked in pretty bad shape.

I saw her mid air. I want to see the replay of the it happened.

It did look bad. She wasn't moving, even as the other riders passed her.

I know that it was a crushing loss for Mara Abbott to go from a gold medal to 4th place in the last 250 m, but I would think more TV comments should be about the horrific injury and hope that she isn't injured too terribly.

They mentioned it was difficult to get information from the course, but after the race when they showed the accident again they said they had unconfirmed reports from the Italian team that she was "okay". Hard to fathom HOW she could be okay from the way she landed, but I hope it's accurate.
And Dayum...Sucked for Mara...

That was a crazy ending the womens road race. To be so close and get fourth sucks. Also there is a reason she went so damn slow down hill. If you watched the mens races you know that down hill was pretty intense.

Im glad she is ok it looked pretty intense.

Word is, that Dutch cyclist did break her back. Officially a concussion and 3 spinal fractures. Just a gruesome crash.

As long as she didn't damage her spinal cord or seriously damage her brain, that's actually a relief. At this point I'm guessing it's a matter of to what extent she fractured those vertebrae. I'm guessing it's probably more severe than when my sister as a kid, due to an undiagnosed at-the-time underlying medical condition that caused her to pass out and fall off a ledge at Maquoketa Caves and fracture a vertebra, but as a baseline, she pretty much had to lay in bed the rest of that summer and pretty much do nothing.

Venus & Serena lost in the first round after three straight gold medals :/
