MLB: 2015 Minnesota Twins thread

Roundball, ever since you brought up Tommy Milone and got me to compliment him, "expendable rotation-spot-clogging Tommy Milone" has returned.

I lay this at your feet. Four ******* outs.

Up 5-0 and freaking blow the lead. Brutal....not like the playoffs are for the taking or anything...

If it can be done the twins will do it. Blow a huge lead? Check. Come back from 7 down in the 8th inning earlier this year? Check. Overpay a decent player and underpay an all-star? Check.

Yeah, it's really been running down his leg lately. And now it sounds like they're not even sure when/if Hughes will start next?

The silver lining in all of this: maybe the front office will finally realize how vital it is to have a staff ace and a couple decent pitchers behind him. There's not much pressure to put together a decent rotation when the Twins are effectively eliminated after the first two months, like we have been since 2011, but this playoff race has really exposed how impossible it is to contend when every single starter has struggled to keep their ERA below 4.00.

Same story as the beginning of the season, same as it's been for the past few years...the Twins need starting pitching, and badly.

Pack it up boys. Lost 4 on a row at home. Last two have been sick losses. Now tied with LAA for third in wild card race.

At least there is hope for next year?

Hughes back in the rotation on Wednesday. Sitting 2.5 back in the wild card right now. We don't play tonight, but the Angels are at Houston, so we'll gain a half game on somebody. Yankees are at Toronto, but they're both so far ahead of us that it probably won't even matter. Texas also has the night off.

Torii Hunter's corpse!!!

SOB is going to do just enough to get re-signed....

i wonder if he really was injured after the all star break? He hit another home run yesterday, I think. I'd happily re-sign him if I were the twins. He's had a very solid year. He's obviously good for the club house. He was well worth it this year.

I do do think the twins are probably toast but they made it until late September in the race. It's been a fun year.

Won 2 in a row and 2 games behind with 12 to play. Still have a chance and that's more than I can say back in April.

Still though, some of those late game collapses are going to haunt me.

As far as getting a wild card berth, I don't think we're toast or anything close to it; Houston's completely tanking right now. We have to watch out for the Angels, who have a couple cushy series at home this week and finish the year on the road at Texas, who'll likely be resting their best players after they've clinched.

As far as advancing in the postseason, I think we're toast; our starting pitchers will fold like a cheap suitcase in October.

yeah, I wrote that after the Angels series. I really thought that was it. i have counted the twins as dead a lot of times this year and they just keep hanging around.

Doesn't matter if we get in at this point, we'll still have to face the god damn Yankees.....

How Kyle Gibson ever built this reputation among both fans and media of being anything more than a fringe 4/5 starter is one of life's great mysteries.

Not that there's much else to choose from at this point, but that's more because of the Twins own poor planning and suspect roster managment.

Are you serious?

48th in baseball in ERA
47th in baseball in WHIP
25th in baseball in WAR
65th in baseball in K/9

Considering there are 30 teams in baseball, he's clearly a #2 or #3 pitcher. Not a fringe 4/5 starter.

Not a single one of those stats are in the top half of qualifiers for AL pitchers.

Not a single one. And they're all dropping like a rock tonight.

Plenty of other guys without the innings to qualify that would top him as well.

If you think Kyle Gibson should be the #2 or 3 option in the rotation, your expectations for the Twins rotation going forward are, well, exactly where they are. A bottom five rotation.

Yes, he's the Twins de facto 2 or 3, behind Santana and Duffey I guess, but...woof.

Going forward, if the Twins are going to put together a playoff team/rotation, he's a 4.
