2007-2008 Record Change

I'm not sure if KG knows the connection himself or if his contact implied the connection and he is looking for help from us to try and pin it down??

I believe the man 100% when he says he knows, but is unable to reveal right now. IMO, probably one of the best sources we have here as it relates to the MBB program.

I just wish like some others, he'd keep a lid on it until he's able to go into detail.

DING DING DING!!! Sorry 22, it's much more fun to chant "I know something you don't know!" Weren't you ever in elementary school?

It sounds like KG knows enough to be dangerous but is still fishing for some additional connection on this board until he is able to find out more from his source. Interesting...

There's some stuff that I can't talk about....we didn't just lose WJ.

I need some help because my source would not tell me over the phone; I'm waiting for my source to get back to Ames.

What is the connection between Alabama and Kentucky?

So heres what I got..

We took another loss in the Las Vegas Tourney against Alabama, which is very odd.

this was the original score:

Sun, Dec 23 Alabama - at Las Vegas, Nev. 68 - 83 (L)
you quote in your first post we also lost to them in OT, basically saying we lost to them twice. Is this supposed to be some metaphorical statement that not only did we lose the game but we lost something to them after the game as well...

Point two is the connection between Alabama and Kentucky, which I don't know yet...

thats all i got

I'm just giving everybody what I have thus far...If you would prefer I wait to say something...I can do that. I've been steaming about this since last night, so it's kind of nice having some company with my frustration.

Meh, a good rumour/guessing game is almost always more exciting than just doling out the facts. Lets imaginations run wild, allows for wild speculation and frankly gives us something to do.

I appreciate you sharing what you know. I don't mind all the speculation. I say share it as you get it.

Thanks!

i like a good guessing game/mystery as much as the next guy.

I would rather play depressed detective rather than just depressed

I got it, James Holland is an Alabama Asst Coach and from 2004-2006, he coached at UTEP as an Asst, right after Gillespie left UTEP after coaching there from 2002-2004, so they probably were introduced to each other by Tim Floyd who was an Asst there under Haskins and maintained strong ties to the UTEP community and Gillespie promised Holland a vacation in Aruba if he could scout out dissatisfied players for him during basketball tourneys and they knew about Wes being sad because Floyd passed on the info because he still stays in touch with LE and LE knew about it from his son who still lives in Ames and it was told to him by the TV guy that came to his house to install the College basketball package, so he could watch his dad's games at So. Miss and the reason that guy knew was because his boss is Wayne Morgan and Wayne had heard from Bruce Van De who is down in LA which is close to Corsicana, TX, that the rumor on the street from Wes's brother was that Wes could be paid for ala Mayo.

It makes sense now. I've always hated Bruce VanD and Floyd broke my heart when he left. I think those two don't like me.

P.S. - Johnny had nothing to do with it, he was golfing that day.

I figured out the connection.

Paul "Bear" Bryant coached at both schools, and with Gillispie coaching at aTm WJ will have done the mythical Paul Bryant "Triple Crown". :jiggy:

I think the point KG Cyclone is trying to make is that something happened at the Vegas Tournament that caused Wes to become "discontent" with the program and/or coaching staff.

I was in Las Vegas for those games and the only thing I can point to is a blowup between WJ and McDermott in a TV timeout in which McDermott laid his hands on Wes jerking him around. In McDermott defense Wes had said something to McDermott coming off the court and McDermott apologized after the TV timeout was over.
It just strikes me as odd that this incident could have been the reason WJ transferred. Especially when you consider that the night before ISU has played its best game of the season in beating Purdue.

I'm guessing here but....

KG=Kevin Garnett who wears #21

Iowa State starter who wears #21=Him or someone close to him

Actually, he is Kevin Garnett. Kevin became good friends with Hoiberg. Hoiberg still has close friends at the ISU MBB program. That has to be it.

In Vegas...certainly it is not related to a betting related or point shaving scheeme??
