2 deep posted on cyclones.com. No major surprises. Congrats to DReynolds for grabbing a starting spot. Looks like Darks may still be nursing an injury, and they have 3 WR listed, although I assume we will be playing a lot of 4 receiver sets.

Guess Jake Williams beating Houston Jones for #2 might be a slight surprise, he was a pretty solid possession receiver last year.

Looks like both Klein and Knott may play as true FR in the LB corps and Lenz makes the list at WR, although I suppose they could still RS if we have no injuries.

Didn't realize K Banks was a senior? Did he come in as a Juco?

I didn't expect to see Sims and O'Connell listed as co-starters at SS.

He is a senior. He probably should have sat out the whole year after breaking his arm in the first game last year. He could have applied for a hardship had he not come back. Shame since we lost all the games anyway.

surprised to see Houston Jones as a kick or punt returner. I thought he was a really good possession receiver last year, but not a guy that had great speed or moves.

It pisses me off to see Sandvig and O'Connell on KR/PR. Both of them have fumbled enough for one lifetime.

I'm so sick of seeing some guy get to return punts just because he's an undersized walk on from Iowa. The last 3 (now) coaching staffs have insisted on this. I really hope that McDowell (who is listed) ends up being the guy.

Also surprised to see Alvarez over Hicks.

Just wondering which of your Rb's on the depth chart is the transfer from Florida? Do you expect to rotate your backs a lot? Im kinda excited to see this No Huddle and see if it can be successful in a BCS conference.

Bo Williams. 3rd stringer right now. He'll likely see some PT, but my guess is that he isn't doing well w/his pass blocking right now.

This.

We haven't had a serviceable PR since Ryan Baum.

Hell, we haven't had a guy who could catch punts and hold onto them for the past 2 years. Chizik's first year was comedy on punt returns. We may as well have not even put anyone back to field them.

Bo Williams is the UF transfer and is #3 on the depth chart.

There are several schools already in the Big 12 that can run a no huddle successfully. MU and Texas Tech frequently use no huddle for stretches of the game. KU goes no huddle occasionally.

Guy couldn't catch a punt either. I remember him having a very nice return against UNI, but he also fumbled a few away that game. I really can't remember the last time punt returning was an asset for us. I can remember a lot of games where it was a detriment.

O'Connell wouldn't have gotten the chance to fumble last year if McDowell hadn't fumbled his way right out of the return game against SDSU. Sumrall was the only guy over the last few years (or Blythe if you want to call him a returner) who didn't fumble when put back there.

I do understand what you are getting at though. Even though JJ Moses had a couple costly fumbles his senior year, he did a hell of a lot more good than bad. I was hoping that Reeves would be the guy after this year.

Why can't Reynolds do it? Or LJ? Are the coaches that aftraid of losing a good player to injury? Every other ******* team in this country has found guys that can catch a punt and at least try to run with it, except us.

The punt returner will be either Money or Lenz. Coaching staff has already said this. I wouldn't put any thought on what that depth chart says. It looks as though they put LJ on their and through in some other names.

Some interesting stuff, kind of disheartening that Sims has not won the SS spot outright as we kind of know what we're getting in O'Connell.

Thought Stephens moving to center meant the end of the days of Alex Alvarez starting, he must truly be in our top 5 after still being in the starting lineup after the switch. Was kind of hoping a guy like Hicks or Baysinger would win the spot.

Of course all of this will change quite a bit during the year. Hopefully Spears can redshirt and get some muscle to his frame, but might be thrown into the fire with Hulbert transferring. Ready to see these guys get out there and play!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned something about Money not being a KR/PR guy. Or was this all ready known?

Edit: Never mind
