***Jack Trice Stadium/Hilton Coliseum alcohol sales thread***

This needed to happen regardless. The whole reentry policy was for the losing era of Cyclone football. It's time to grow up...

Honest question; do many stadiums even allow re-entry? I'm skewed towards the NFL, which has a strict no re-entry policy, but even college stadiums I've visited , Jack Trice was the only one that had re-entry.

I can guarantee you there will be WAY more butts in seats to start the second half. LOL people leaving at half were absolutely going to the lots to pound a couple beers quick. We've all done it but alcohol sales remove the "necessity".

The vast vast majority of open seats are people stuck in concessions and restrooms lines because those are both a disaster at jack trice. If anything, beer sales will probably make that worse

I rarely utilize reentry now, but back when I did it was less about going out to the parking lot to slam a beer and more that it was faster to go out there, hit a restroom, and maybe grab a hot dog off the grill than it was to do those things inside the stadium

Why would he be mad? It was his former boss who wouldn't allow it.
He was extremely invested in speaking out against it.

I think Pollard is the best AD we’ve ever had, but he’s such an obnoxious borderline narcissist that I take some pleasure in him having to squirm a little.

At least I hope there are a few more selections than at luke combs concert. Ames Lager for sure but a couple others beside Mich ultra and Busch light.....

Those of you expecting the seats to be full again at the start of the 3rd are going to be disappointed. Those people will still be missing, the only difference is instead of them making their way back from the parking lot, they will be standing in line at the concession waiting for their half time beer.

I think you would be surprised on where Jamie actually stood on the issue. It was Wendy who didn’t want alcohol sales open to the masses.

Maybe a bit much with defending it, but what's he going to do, speak publicly saying "I want to sell beer but my boss won't let me."?

Aren't THC drinks going away after the midterms anyway? I thought the latest Reconciliation Bill banned them.

I didn't know that. I drink them instead of alcohol. Much better for my body. If they do ban them it will only hurt people selling them. I have dissapearables when bars don't sell them. Just a tin sugar looking packet I can put into any drink like water or soda water and they are tasteless. THC will be legal in Iowa Soon anyway is my prediction.

Love the first bullet point. Long overdue.

I’d love anyone who disagrees with me on that to try to make a coherent counterpoint as to why people can come and go as they please, especially now the main reason they left is available in the stadium,.

I leave about one-third of the time because there is something at our tailgate that I need to address, such as something happening with the TV for those who didn't have tickets. Granted, this happens less now that we have gone to Starlink and YoutubeTV. But other things happen too. For instance, sometimes I need to take care of something because the weather turned bad. I almost never drink when I'm out at our tailgate during halftime and won't be buying beer in the stadium anyway, so it isn't about that for me.

And for those who really care about getting fans in their seats for the start of the second half, make sure that you complain as loudly about the terrible service at the concession stands. I think that is as big a problem as people going to their tailgates at halftime.

Do people still smuggle in leather botas with their spirit of choice? I know we did; back when the players didn't wear helmets, and all...

I can't remember a game when I didn't smuggle in shooters, a few cans of beer, jello-shots, flask etc. into a game for like the last 15-20 years. Now with selling beer, they probably will have more people searching you as you go into the game. :rolleyes:Seems like the law of averages for Iowa State. I know with the Fast Pass option, no one really looked at anything you brought in.

No, I would wager you can count on one hand how many P5 teams allow patrons to leave and re-enter.
