An element of tournament performance and eventual exit is it's the most-recent "happening," so it's natural it could overshadow all that came before, even if you don't value it any more than the regular season.
I try to remember (or "not forget") how the past season ISU started 16-0 and was ranked #2 for a short time, and how fun that was. Also think about how much a bummer the UC and at KU losses were, in retrospect it's not a huge deal.
Wish season had continued longer, potential Elite 8 for sure w/ Jefferson probably, but full-picture it was satisfying.
In those occasions when, say, an 11 seed reaches Elite 8 or even Final Four, sometimes as a First Four entrant, think about how sporadic the in-season results were. So three months that might include being fringe tournament team most of the time. The two weeks in tournament are thrilling, for sure, but that's like 1/8 of the season.
