Assad isn't suppose to start again until Wednesday or Thursday so this gives them an extra bullpen arm. I wouldn't be surprised if Taillon starts one of the 5 games also.
Taillon will likely start tonight. I would assume it will be Rea Wednesday and Imanaga Thursday. Zero chance Assad jumps Imanaga to start in this series on short rest.

Yeah, I forgot he just pitched yesterday. For some reasoni thought it was Saturday. He'll likely be called back up by Friday or Saturday would be my guess.

I don't think Assad is eligible to be called back for a minimum of 15 days after he was optioned to the minors unless it is the corresponding move for an injured player. With Tallion set to return they will have enough starters anyways.

Minor League Options | Glossary | MLB.com

"Upon being optioned to the Minor Leagues, a position player must remain there for a minimum of 10 days before he is eligible to be recalled to the Major League roster. For pitchers, the minimum is 15 days. If a player is serving as the 27th man for a doubleheader or replacing a player who has been placed on the injured list, there is no minimum number of days for which the optioned player must remain in the Minors."

Which lines him right up to be the September 1 arm when rosters expand.

It will be interesting. Cubs essentially have 6 starters right now with Taillon coming back.

Its a busy stretch, between now and Thu, Sep 4 the Cubs only have 1 day off on Mon, Aug 25. So they could go with a 6 man rotation to keep guys arms fresh over the next 2.5 weeks.

I also like what they did with Brown yesterday in having him eat innings 6-8. That should help limit innings on the leverage relievers.

AF- hope Horton doesn't have a blister. Makes it tough on a DH day and compounds it with the limited days off in the coming couple weeks.

Sick sequence there. Cubs can’t score with bases loaded one out and then Brewers hit a solo bomb

think i have seen enough of Little...unfortunately, need guys to eat innings with Horton going out early

So Tucker is or was hurt.

Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer believes Tucker’s struggles stem in part from a finger injury that he suffered on June 1 while sliding head-first into second base.

“He probably changed his mechanics a bit while fighting through it,” Hoyer said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning. “And I think that probably is a big part of it. I mean, he is a little bit different mechanically than he was at the beginning of the year, and that’s what he’s working hard to get back to.

We’ve reached the “Boog and JD calling fans dumb” portion of the season

Starting pitcher hurt and the bullpen having to battle, time for the offense to step it up and hel...bahahhhaha I can't even say it with a straight face. These guys suck.
