Well, looking like another early morning for those of us with dogs and weather radios. Not surprised given you can’t even walk outside without dripping in sweat.

Currently awake in bed with a dog who has panic attacks as soon as he see lightning. Oh it's been a rough summer.

Mine woke up when my wife’s alarm clock beeped when the power flickered a bit ago and now wants to play. Hope you and your dog can get a bit of rest again before morning

Nightlight helps, he doesn't take to his kennel very well anymore so we let him sleep on the bed, he has a bassinet to go to, but rarely does. He just moves all around and shakes. The storms have been so bad, he still gets anxious even when there's no thunder/lightning at all. Medication may be in the future.

My dang phone keeps blasting out weather warnings and I have troubles falling back asleep (keep forgetting to turn my notifications off). I just lay here listening to the sounds of thunder and my sump pump clicking on and off.

Gonna go have a bowl of cereal and then try to go back to sleep.

I’m about ready to fire up the portable generator at our house. Mid Americans website has ~29,000 customers out of power in the DSM metro. I’m thinking it could be awhile yet.

Did the weather forecasts totally whiff on the overnight storms in central Iowa? I feel like these were never mentioned as a possibility, like they were supposed to stay in Eastern Iowa.

Channel 13 had them as a possibility, but I think they mostly thought that this would fizzle out to a bit of rain by the time it reached the metro area.

Bad day for trash and recycling. Its everywhere.

Also forgot to lock one of our deck boxes and the wind got it and tipped it over, luckily nothing broken but did snap a tiki torch.

1.1" overnight in Grimes. Wind must have been worse than I thought as it sure sounded like it rained harder than that. Neighborhood is a mess this morning as today is trash and recyclables day so everyone had their bins on the curb last night so that was fun picking up everything out of the yard.

We had just shy of 2 inches in NW Ankeny. Lost power for about 2.5 hours, but got to give the new generator a test run. I think the battery backup sump pump would have lasted through it, but it was cycling much more frequently and I didn't want to risk it.

Was not expecting to have to worry about ANY of that.
