Do you have a sport you play to wind down? Are you a social golfer? Do you like to bowl or throw darts? Pick up games of basketball?

Any fun stories about any of those?

I've been golfing since I was 14. Usually play with a few buddies once a week, and try to get out with my wife once a week too (she never played much before last year, but I thought she'd be less anxious about it if we played best ball, and that has worked well). This year I'm also playing men's league with another buddy.

Beyond the usual summer farm Olympics, like BUCKET LIFT, HOOKING UP THE BALER, and CALF-PULLING, once in a while have time for some free-style YIPPIE-YI-KAYAKING.

No incidents to report, and prefer to keep it that way.

Usually whatever sport the kids are on to in a given week. The last couple weeks have been "big ball baseball" which is playing baseball with a big inflatable ball. We've had upwards of like 10-12 neighborhood kids running bases in our driveway. My middle son and I have been playing for at least a half hour or so most nights.

Swimming is a big one. Lots of family days in the pool but I'll occasionally go float at night after everyone is already in bed.

I'll play some pickup basketball occasionally. A few years ago I played with some folks on here and almost died from being so out of shape. Someone else blew their knee out. I can't remember who it was though.

I play rec slowpitch softball 1 night a week. More about having a few beers and socializing with some guys more than it is caring about winning these days although when we play close competive games those nights make it more fun.

When the kids have sports that is usually a fun time as getting to socialize with the other parents while we watch our kids play is relaxing.

Listening to Pat Hughes call a Cubs game.
Usually the most relaxing on the boat but also love it when I'm doing chores. I'll time out some things just for that reason.

Love to golf - but never have the time to anymore with 2 kids - couple that with trying to organize a group of people to go and find a tee time that works for everyone and I can honestly say I don't know if I'll even go this year.

I'd say what I do to decompress is just walk around the yard and look at the plants we've planted. It's weird, and I know the neighbors give me weird looks when I walk around and look at my plants while having a beer, but honestly I don't care. It works for me.

Hiking is my go to decompression chamber. I especially love hiking in Glacier National Park because you can truly unplug from the electronic nightmare. No internet and no cell phone coverage on the trails. Just my wife and I in nature exercising and enjoying God's creation.

Take your kids out on the course with you. When my boy was 5 or 6, I bought him a Snoopy driver and a putter and let him hit off the tees and then putt, and he loved going out.

I love finding something to do in the garage while the royals are playing. Listening to Denny Mathews while working outside is very relaxing to me.

I think the 4-1/2 year old is getting close to being able to go. I'll hold off awhile with the 7 month old.

I'm not sure if it's a 'sport' but I fly fish/paddle/wade quite a bit.

Being in the water really naturally slows things down and can become quite the ecosystem to observe.
