Siakam probably benefits the least from Hali on the Pacers. Hes an elite 1 on 1 player who has always scored quietly. I'd have voted Hali but the 5-4 vote either way seems fair without ISU goggles on

Will he be able to score in half court on their giants, I know he can outrun them and take them on drible. I like how every big for Indy pulls those guys from the paint. The only bad 3pt shooter on Indy’s roster is the short backup pg.

i thought Nesmith was going to get it of anyone other than Tyrese got it. his game 1 heroics and defense all series. made a ton of big shots and plays.
Watching Nesmith and Nembhard lay it all out to defend the opponents top scorers has been incredible. Anyone who says there’s no defense in the NBA clearly isn’t paying any attention.

There no defense in the regular season. This is why the 1 seeds struggle in the playoffs. Experienced teams know to coast through the regular season and kick in that extra gear come playoff time. Defensive effort is often that extra gear.

This is missing a lot of nuance - many players only survive in the league due to their defensive chops. For them, every night their livelihood is on the line, and it shows with how they play defense. But overall team defense definitely ratchets up come playoff time

That post is not missing nuance, it's just flat out wrong.

Sorry, but Tyrese not being MVP is an absolute joke
Totally agree.... and I like Siakam a ton, but it should have been Haliburton by a mile.

Sure... Siakam had a total of 149 pts in this series to Hali's 126 total. But Hali had 42 more assists than Siakam... which translates to a minimum of 84 pts more on the board for Hali. That puts Tyrese WAY ahead of Siakam in total points in which they directly contributed to. It ends up being a minimum of a 252 to 191 total pts contributed advantage for Tyrese over this series.

But..... "I'm sure Siakam had more rebounds??"... some might say, right? Wrong! Tyrese had 6 more rebounds in this series than Siakam. How about steals? 15-8 advantage for Tyrese.

Tyrese not only put up the huge numbers statistically... but he also had the ball in his hands almost ALL the time, and he was the one they wanted to have the ball at the end of every single game too... he was the game clinching guy nearly every time too. He made everyone else SO much better on this team just by his play alone.

So yes... this was completely laughable that they gave it to Siakam... but whatever... it doesn't really matter... and Siakam played great too and seems to be a good guy.. so good for him. But it seems like they just didn't look into any of the numbers of this series at all... and just gave it to the guy that had the most points in last night's game.

Fans are rough:

Hopefully Tyrese takes it all in good fun.

I was doing some stat comparing and you can’t blame him on raw stats. Siakam had greater fg% but not enough for Tyrese to not dominate all advanced stat measures. Assists, steals, rebounds, blocks, the big late game moments…and just a couple points less per game.

I'm sure he will.

I don't get the issue at all with him thinking he was going to win it.... the entire country... even the announcers of the game... thought he was going to win it hands down... so why wouldn't he think that too? Is he not human?? So f**king stupid.

The announcers after the game was over said something like.... "MVP has to be Haliburton, right?"... and the other announcer said... "yeah, you would think so.". And if you just look at the stats from this series... it wasn't even close who the MVP was. It was hands down Tyrese by every single measure.

But heaven forbid if Tyrese also thinks he probably won it, right? So dumb.

Siakem didn't have a single bad game. Haliburton did have a single bad game.
