Ames, IA
RN Ames has had full cloud cover with a few lighter blotches here and there. There is a weak prefrontal boundary that could have provided a source of lift to burst through the cap moving over central IA RN, which is why there are some darker clouds here and potentially why they forecasted an elevated tornado risk briefly at around 1pm in these areas. So far there isn't much development though, it's still early in the setup, but watch this as it moves over I-35 if you are along the corridor. 1745863589383.png
Storms have initiated in eastern South Dakota into southwest Minnesota, and the SPC has put a tornado watch in the area:
Their mesoscale discussion notes this convection will mainly be high up enough where the threat is just hail and some wind at the start, but there is increasing tornado potential the further east it goes:

I think we are at the point where forecasting models can be thrown out the window and are in a "now cast" mode.

Locally, Mpls west metro, it looks like I have time to run tot he gym of 90 minutes or so. Will park in the ramp though!

Garbage day and they did pickup my 17 bags of leaves before they blew over so that was good. The 3/4" of rain this morning maybe helped add some weight to those.

It’s a running joke for whoever follows him. There’s been a lot of bad severe weather events when he eats Culver’s cheese curds. He likes Culver’s though so I think he just gets it all the time.
Thank you!

Mainly large one's that there are not hangars for but yes it is very common to limit damage/losses and maintain operational readiness.

Very common with fighters too. Most Fighter bases don't have nearly enough hangar space to accommodate all the aircraft.
