I am interested to see if bidding for players goes up as summer approaches and more and more players sign or...does it goes down as more and more schools use up their NIL. The schools that have deep pockets will run out of roster spots as well.

Yeah normally in pro sports the first guy sets the market and then the teams start filling up and the price goes down. Guessing the first couple of transfers out of spring will get some high dollar amounts since coaches will see what they have in the spring game and start position hunting. Like ummmm we need a quarterback, then pay high and then the prices will start to drop. That is what I am thinking will happen.

I'm guessing the transfer market will slow down some, spots filled, money spent. It will be interesting to see how many quality or role players will still be available. Hoping we will be a desirable landing spot for one of those players.

I think a little of both. As the big-impact players sign and supply dries up, a school KState will almost certainly overspend to try to land one of the remaining studs (sound familiar)? I suspect that, at the same time, as schools use up their budgets, there could be some value guys to be found. That might just be wishful thinking, though.

A lot will hinge on a few variables:

1. Jefferson and Momcilovic take the next step. Both were good players this past year, both need to become great to offset losses of others. If they are the same players again, the ceiling lowers tremendously.

2. Heise is ready for an expanded role. He showed well down the stretch once Keshon was hobbled and shut down. Need more of February and March Heise, he can not revert back to November- January Heise.

3. The transfers have to be replacement level at a minimum. In other words, Buchanan, Mulder, and Williams have to makeup for what we're losing in Jackson, Chatfield, and Gilbert. I do think it could be a wash between the 4 post players, but expecting Williams to be a one for one replacement to Gilbert, even a hobbled version of Gilbert, is probably asking a bit too much. Which Ieads me to

4. Need a couple freshmen to step up. Specifically one of the guards, since that is the most important position in today's game and the area of thin depth for next year's team. Ideally some combination of Toure, Batemon, and Williams mentioned above can work together to replace Gilberts production and spell Lipsey on occasion as well. Anything we can get from Mitchell and Pleta will be a bonus next year in my opinion.

If these 4 things hold true, then other variables would still need to go in our favor. Injuries specifically, since it appears that we are going to have at it with just 11 scholarship guys.
Agree, but a lot has to go right. I’m reminded of an old saying, “Hope is a wonderful thing to have, if you don’t have a plan.” I trust TJ has a plan. Go Clones!

I thought Blum or Williams has a good comment on the NIL marketplace. The stock market is down considerably in the last couple months.

Whales might not feel the market downturn like most. But even for them it's a lot easier to pony up more money when your high value principle is growing 10-20% annually vs. when it just drop 10%+ in the last month. Might not be a good time for athletes to ask for more.

He's a good add, but this is his 3rd school. So I'm not buying that playing in McCullum's system will make him a stud. Nor is he suddenly going to be a consistent player. A solid 4/5th option.
He’s basically the replacement for Mitch Mascari.

Not a bad fit. Hausen will probably have some big scoring games, especially with Stirtz drawing all of the attention.

But he's a matador defensively. If McCollum is lucky, Hausen will score more points than he gives up.

I think it goes down a bit, Lots of the NIL's emptied their coffers, in lieu of the house settlement.

Looks like a favorable schedule! We would normally be playing 4 home B12 games and 5 away, this year. With the Ireland game v K-State, a neutral site, that makes it 4 and 4. And we get Iowa at home.

Let's Go!

Edit: Wrong thread. I'll switch this over to FB.

This might be the best transfer Iowa has landed since Luke Recker. Or Adam Haluska can't remember who was first.

Edit to add I forgot about Fran convincing Uthoff to come home.

He hit 90 threes last season. Gotta tip hat to Ben, he’s had a killer transfer portal season

Way up there
How many scholarship players does k state have now? The positive is, they should have a lot of money to throw around, the negative is it's going to cost more this year. Tangs buyout is the gift that keeps on giving.
