Jefferson is from Las Vegas. He has been in Ames for less than a year. He has no other ties to this university or fan base. Put yourself in the shoes of that 21 year old kid. Damn right you are avoiding the cold winter and taking that money. That is life changing money. Make smart decisions and invest that money well and you are set for life.

Please dont go at the kid or his family on social media.

And like I said, that's your choice accept your fate. It sounds like jefferson will stay of we get from 1.2 to 2 million. That million i spoke of isn't ever gonna compete with sec money but it certainly sounds like it could help us hold on to our core 4 this year.
I thought long and hard about if I'd rather me have my money or Jefferson have my money, and I determined that I feel better if I have it.

Is my $0 annually enough?
It buys you the right to not complain about how and what happens with ISU NIL expenditures.

This is absolutely a legitimate option. If you don't like it or can't contribute, that is perfectly fine. It doesn't make you any less of an ISU fan, it just doesn't buy you the right to complain about how the money is used.

If you want to complain about NIL in general. Fire away. I HATE it AND I contribute. Presently, that seems to be the most pragmatic action to me.

We should have a dedicated portal thread on this board and you have to enter your WE WILL code in as a password to be able to access discussion about any portal talk.

Because they are not paying players to pay for their basketball team and instead using the money for their family and kids to be able to play sports and go to school.
If you paying for your kids to play sports and go to school (college or private) then I’m guessing there is probably some discretionary income of $7 a week to give to WeWill if you wanted to. If you don’t want to then just be honest rather than saying you can’t afford it.

I’ve been in banks that have started talking to me and then asked me what it would take for me to come back into the business and my exact responses were, you cant afford me, I enjoy being my own boss too much.

Besides I would now be an awful employee as I would do what I thought was best and maybe not what they told me.
So now consider you have one year left until you retire. That bank comes in and offers you $3MM. I think you’re jumping.

Fun fact, we were only $7 away from keeping Jefferson.

So you’re judging people whom you don’t know and whose financial situation you know nothing about.

Even moreso than alums it’s highly regional. Specifically the Southeast and Midwest.

Very few west of the Mississippi or in NY/NE care about college sports at all. Or if they care it’s very much secondarily to other activities and professional sports
Yet CFB playoffs broke viewership records as has the NCAA tournament.
