That team was fragile as ****. Terrible chemistry. I don't think TJ would let a cancer like BDJ on his team.

Nope and fwiw I'm not comparing the two.

Just remembered that terrible start to the tournament haha.

Super disappointing this guy has a full breakdown of every team in the tournament besides Lipscomb :puke: here's ours for reference:

Yeah the more I read about Lipscomb the less scared I am... they aren't built like BYU much at all except for the high rate of 3pt shooting. Sure if they shoot 50%+ from 3 we can lose. But they don't have the combination of players BYU has. BYU is tough on the glass, move the ball better than Lipscomb, and are better shooters. I believe in our guys

Agreed - offensively they can shoot like BYU, but don't have the same drible/penetration with the rotation passing to the corner three that we couldn't defend. The big guy from WI (#41), has a nice stepback fade - very MM like. Need to keep the bigs out of foul trouble. MIght be a good game for Watson to get some minutes in.

The difference is really on D. From what I've seen, they are not very good or aggressive. They went under screens, sagged off shooters, etc. I see big days for CuJo, MM & our inside game. Look for us to be hyper aggressive at getting post-paint touches & CuJo's floater early. From there, they start to sag and have open outside shots.

They will make some shots; but, as long as all of our guys are not off for the day - i don't see how they get enough stops / rebounds to keep up.

Anything can happen - but double digit favorites for a reason.

Chatfield quick feet on defense? Are we watching the same thing? The guy has to be top 10 in the country for fouling a guy at the top of the key to prevent from being blown by
Yeah, I would expect Jefferson, Milan and Heise to guard him.

TJ made a really emphasized point in his presser today about "really guard the basketball, really guard the basketball 1 on 1 and keep the ball out of the paint". Think TJ knows they dont have the athletes to take our guys off the dribble. Think we likely see far less trapping and will just play them straight up.

Not exactly sure.
I paid $480 for all session tickets so I could get them early. Ticketmaster apparently isn't sending them to me until the night before, making my plan to sell my other session tickets from the first round more complicated.
I bought all session on Sunday. Got them Sunday and sold session 2 on Sunday.

I don't know how big Lipscom is across their lineup but BYU being big enough that they could see over and pass over most double teams also played into it. It is easier to find the open man if you can...you know...find the open man.

It's been mentioned - but besides being small, they really only play 7 guys, and the two bench players only play 10-15 minutes. two of their guards played every minute of the last two conference tourney games - including the OT semi win. I expect Pruitt, Anderson and Ognacevic won't come out unless they pick up some fouls.

This gets to our probably our biggest advantage - physicality. We are going to have a height, weight and strength advantage at every position on the floor - all game (unless Kelderman is in). They aren't used to the physicality of the Big XII. It's okay if we pick up some fouls - we come out ahead in a foul-fest. We need to pressure and push their guards all over the court - they won't be able to keep up for 40 minutes. That of course leads to rebounding advantage and points in the paint.

I do think it's a game we could go small with Jefferson at the '5' for long stretches - and if we do, watch for the high PNR between Milan and Jefferson - where Milan ends up posting his guy at the FT line and backing him down. It was effective in the BYU game and may be even moreso in this game.

Demin didn't pay great against us either time - but he's a lottery pick because he's a 6'8" point guard. Needless to say, Lipscomb doesn't have anyone like that

They have 4 guards and 3 bigs that play any minutes.

The starting guards are 6'0", 6'2", 6'2" - and the sub is 6'3"
Their "bigs" are 6'8" and 6'10" - and the sub is 6'10"

they are all slight (as mentioned above, no one listed above 220#)

This was nice! Thanks! It also confirmed what I've seen with use all year that we really do lack perpetual motion on offense.

Tamin said he’s 80% according to the DMR article I just read which to me sounds better than he’s been all year. I hope that’s true
