WVU's AD answers the question:
We’re committed to doing what it takes to win and I think Coach DeVries knows that. We’ve had multiple discussions about what we need to do to make this program better, and he knows we’re committed to doing it. We’re committed to Coach DeVries and we’re committed to rewarding success and we´re committed to building this. I think ultimately he feels good about what he has here and I think the future is very bright for us.¨
That’s a lot of words to say “I don’t know what he’s going to do but I really hope he stays.”

How long you think the big10 survives??

In some form probably forever.

But it might be gutted if Ohio St., Michigan, and whomever they want to join them go to form a Super League with comparable teams from the SEC plus Notre Dame.

Someday Northwestern and Rutgers will be set adrift on an ice floe.

But it will be a very tastefully decorated and understatedly elegant ice floe.

WV WBB coach, Dawn Plitzuweit completed her first season as the head coach 2022-23, leading them to a 19-12 record & #10 seed in NCAA tournament. She grew up in the Midwest (previously coached at South Dakota) & left for Minnesota after one season at WV.

Add Dana "Unprofessional" Holgerson to the list as well

Seems like a tough place to keep a coach unless they have roots there..

Holgorsen coached there for 8 seasons. That's an eternity in CFB.

I think McCollum would be a much better fit at IU where he doesn’t have to recruit because they’ll pay whatever to get talent there. McCollum hasn’t ever recruited at the level needed to win at P5 basketball so it’s a big risk and not a slam dunk that he could do that at a place like NIL-strapped Iowa.

But who knows, these are all a big crapshoot.

I'd agree on McCollum. I think he could succeed at a place with great NIL because he's a good culture guy and X and Os guy. Recruiting becomes easy when you have gobs of money to throw around. Getting buy in and culture is the hard part.

I really think the only concern anybody should have about McCollum is the style of play isn't exciting and might hinder recruiting. But NIL can overcome that. Plus, no reason that McCollumn wouldn't adjust like McDermott did.

The only concern I'd have about DeVries is that he had success in a one-bid Valley that is a shell of it's former self, and he did so with some P5 transfers and his kid, who was close to, if not a top 100 player nationally. He had a pretty distinct talent gap most of his time at Drake.

Nevertheless, DeVries and McCollum are both really good coaches. Will it translate long-term in the Big 10? You just never know. No guarantees, but if Iowa got either they should be happy.

I don’t know if they are screwing it up I just think there are better outcome for Devries and there’s nothing they can do about it.
IMO opinion, the fact that Devries left without a deal is screwing it up. Especially considering it was reportedly due to NIL, and weve all witnessed them pay Mcnamara, Proctor, etc which has been a complete waste for them

I don’t think even we as ISU fans appreciate how terrible the Iowa job is and how poorly it’s looked at from the outside. Their own fans are absolutely jaded (surprise).

This. And while DD and BM are supposedly Iowa guys is that enough? Looks like it wasn’t for DD and BM may have better offers as well.

They aren’t screwing it up if they end up with McCollum

It’ll be interesting to see if Fran is a candidate at Drake if that occurs

Will be interesting to see if Drake is okay taking really good stair steppers or if they want someone that is almost guaranteed to stick around for a bit. Although I think McCollum staying another year isn’t off the table. Guy knows about paying dues.

Hot take: he would be really good at/for Nova.
