I think this is just plain wrong.IMO Culture over time will trump “buying” stop gap transfers…not saying we don’t get transfers but they have to fit otherwise you jeopardize what your trying to establish. Fill “holes” with transfers don’t “build” rosters with them and I think EIU is trying the later as a last ditch effort and it will result in a never ending money grab and will put them in worse spot.
From our discussion on CC, he’s a prime example of a top level world class talent that’s young and we can build around rather than getting that type of talent on a one year rental that breaks the bank, it’s why I’m so hopeful he returns…glaring need at upper weights, hs all his eligibility and will draw others at upper weights to backfill down the road
We have a glaring weakness at 197 next year. That is a hole we need to fill. There is lots of talk about getting a guy like Novak to fill that hole. Novak would be a step up from what we have but he’s maybe 2-4 points at NCAA. With AJ your plugging in a bare minimum of 10. More likely 15+.
CC has proven to be not good. Can he turn it around and get better? possibly. But he looks a lot like Chittum to me. Great talent, capable of beating some good guys. His career record in 2 years of college is 5-6 with some absolute clunker losses. Not the kind of results you would expect from a recruit ranked in the top 5 of his class. There is absolutely zero evidence that he is someone you can “build around”.
Also, what evidence do we have to say AJ is bad for the locker room? Is there turmoil as CSUB? Was there at OSU? If there was how much was due to Anthony?
I agree with @stuclone. Definitely has to be conditioned on good behavior and attitude, but from what I’ve seen this year he’s turned things around a bit.
