WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Awesome double overtime game today with NC State pulling out a win over Notre Dame. March Madness is going to be fun this year!

Iowa had minimal fouls called on them in the first half. Refs decided to call them in the 2nd half and not call them on UCLA.

How did Iowa get away playing both USC AND UCLA at home and neither on the road?

Luck of the draw this year. Next year they have to go to LA for back-to-back games at USC and UCLA like the Gophers did this year. Next season I think the Gophers get them both at home but not likely back-to-back. For travel purposes each team will get that every other year. Good news is that in the home game years you are unlikely to get them back-to-back.

Agree. ND/SC/UCONN/LSU/Texas and even NC State are just on another level. I
UCLA is 8-1 against top 25 teams, with 7 of the wins by double digits. One of the double digit wins was over South Carolina. They also have possibly the biggest matchup problem in WBB in Betts.

You are correct about Betts but UCLA also like to shoot the 3 - Iowa was in the game because they were 1-11 from 3 in the first half and is currently 3-18.

Refs just awful in the Iowa-UCLA game. Not even necessarily pro one side or another (though, grudgingly, will say Iowa is being slightly worked by the refs here), just plain bad. Women's basketball refs and all that.

Should of easily been 1.4 to 1 second on clock

Unreal iowa can beat and top 5 team and give #1 all they can handle and we can't even beat competitive against those teams.

And this Iowa team is average talent wise.
I'd nudge back on the last part. Lucy and Hannah are a good bit beyond "average" in terms of pure talent IMO, and Taylor is one of the best 3pt shooters in the B1G.

But I agree with the spirit of your point, this Iowa team can give the best in the country fits but then look very ordinary against other ordinary teams. I do like the fact that JJ has them playing better defensively than we've been the past several years.

All depends on if the hairball three hit in or out of bounds, if it hit out of bounds on the baseline then about 1.3 seconds left, if it hit in bounds then bounced out they were lucky to get the .3 on the clock. Clock does not stop till it touches out of bounds. I think the right call.

I also think UCLA is not one of the top 7 teams, USC either.

UCLA is a better version of Iowa State. Play thru Betts, she scores or dishes out for deep balls. Two things, Betts is better than Audi and her teammates make more shots.

Iowa can look real good at times. I would like to see what happens when they play the better teams from the SEC, ACC or UCONN.

It was meant in comparison with the CC iowa teams.

Not sure what more UCLA needs to do to prove themselves worthy. They have several double-digit wins over top-25 teams in conference and OOC.
