The season doesn’t start until about a week before the playoffs for me. The difference between the regular season and playoffs is immense. Once the playoffs start and the teams start to care, it’s a great product. Until then, it reminds me of the intensity of all start games of old.

Cyclone fans who didn’t watch Haliburton’s run to the ECF last year don’t really like basketball, just cyclone college basketball.

It’s no different than ignoring Purdy’s run to the Super Bowl and pretending the nfl is crappy football…nobody did that.

The Bulls stink. And those games are rare in the NBA, but happen in the college game somewhat frequently. Kansas State just shot 1-19 from 3 against Arizona and won the game.

Preferring college over pro basketball because you like shooting is like a thirsty man chosing a glass of sand over a glass of water.

If it’s not Cyclones I can barely watch a lot of college games because the shooting is so laughable vs pros. FT, mid range and 3.

Think of it like two seasons…because the playoffs is as long as the meaningful part of an ncaa season.
That's the problem. The playoffs should start the first week in April and end in early May.

The last thing I want to watch is basketball when I've been to the pool and grilling out in early June. Baseball season is in full swing by then anyways.

Make those large contracts more incentive based. What incentivizes these top players to play regular season game if they already have a major contract? Pretty much nothing.

I wish. Large incentive for contracts would make the product better!

However, imagine you are a hot free agent player and see a contract with games play per play of regular season (missed of rest, not injury), and need contract to get in the playoffs and go further rounds. They will claim it's not his fault that the team suck because the owner/coach/players, so how about just say "meh pass" and their look all the other contracts that will full money w/o incentives. OK, I don't have to do anything but juat go out to play and take all the money w/o results. Sign me this ****!

It's all in your head. They pass the ball and play way more team basketball than they did 20-30!years ago. JFC it was simple isolation plays all night back then. Throw it down low and have the big man back his ass to the basket. Defensively you just packed the lane. Most 4s and 5s couldn't hit a shot outside of 15 ft. Today's game may not be the game you remember from "back in the day" but respectfully I think your assessment of today's game is off.

If my assessment is off why is the commissioners office trying to figure out a solution to fix the game.

From a basketball standpoint, it sucks. Talent is top notch across the board, but what they are playing is not basketball.
The talent level is at its highest ever yet they need to shorten the length of the season because players now cannot weather an 81 or 82 game-season. Doesn't make sense to me.

If you watched the worst team in the league 30 years ago it didn't look like basketball either. Mix in a Boston game ffs. Tell me they don't play team ball. OKC with the big 3 several years ago was the funnest NBA team I've ever watched.
Outside the years of & immediately after for expansion teams, I would disagree with this. Those expansion teams diluted the talent & led to the Bulls having inflated W's vs Losses as a heavy amount of their victories were against early T-Wolves, Heat, & Magic.

The game was basket-centric & you had players constantly attacking the rim. Now guys sprint to the corner and from there they rarely move - only if the ball is. roughy their side & they get a chance to touch the ball. It is rare to see teams built on fast breaking and getting the ball centered & then having players on each wing.

How’d those incentives work out for Haliburton playing when he shouldn’t have been to hit incentives?

Plenty of 4's & 5's could shoot & you had the illegal defense call so the lane could not be that packed. Watching the best post players then was beautiful to watch & you dont see much if that nowadays.

NHL plays just as many games, but your average Tuesday night regular season hockey game is so much better entertainment wise than it's NBA counterpart that night for the vast majority of games/matchups.
The US vs Canada game tonight had three fistfights in the first nine seconds of you like small bursts of fighting with your hockey

Wolves were and are western conf. I think the 3-4 expansion teams impacting the game greatly is exaggerated.

I think today’s game is fantastic because we have the best passers since Magic and Bird. Joker is the greatest ever, Luka is a wizard, LeBron still top five then lots of great young playmakers like Tyrese.

The commissioners office is always looking at that. We ended up with the Pistons mini run in the mid 2000s that was absolute garbage basketball, they changed the rules to allow more movement, and offense exploded.

There are always ebbs and flows.

This is probably need a new thread, but ALL sports are probably at the best talent level now. ALL technology, nutrition, meds, know the body, etc make into athletes machines. Think of the rule changes of NFL with protective. I was looking at other athletes for track and field. Out of 64 men events, 56 (87.5%) records break after the year 2000, and the all other 8 events were over 1990.

What could imagine in a huge regulation rules, so let's basketball. I can't imagine it was like to live at the time they introduce the 3 point line. Or the time clock! That's was f'n huge. What else could be different? The rim have a smaller circumference? What about the dimension of the court, longer or wider? What if their offsides rule (like more hockey, not soccer)? Limit substitutions?
