I remember the 90s and early 2000s. Jazz vs bulls. Lakers vs kings. Pistons. That was fun. This **** sucks now.
Teams used to hate one another. Superstars were rivals, not buddies.

Yeah I don't remember Stockton going to the rim and getting mauled.Stocktons style of play was night and day different than LeBron. You’re gonna get hurt a lot more when you’re driving to the rim rather than running a pick and roll over and over again.
It's the same thing dude. You're just old and keep talking about the good ole days. Guys like Barkley and Jordan were golfing buddies.Teams used to hate one another. Superstars were rivals, not buddies.
They do play defense it's just really hard to guard guys one on one with the kind of scoring ability that an NBA guy has. There was no parity in the NBA in the 90s either. Unless you were a Bulls fan what was so great about the 90s? The same team won it 6 out of 10 years and it was basically the same teams in the playoffs every year.

There are plenty of guys in the NBA that don't like each other. Ill bet there are more fights nowI was never really an NBA guy so I don't have a dog in the fight.
But I don't think MJ and Isiah or Reggie or Ewing were buddy-buddy.
MJ looked obviously annoyed when they brought up Isiah during The Last Dance.
Can you name any modern superstars with championships to their name with such bad blood?
Shave 15 games off the regular season and it would be fine. The skill level is higher now than it ever has been. The versatility of players and moving the 3 point line back has made it impossible to play defense though. I mean contrary to popular belief nobody watched the NBA in the 70s or 80s. There is way more parity now too.
Go 1:05 at this amd you'll understand.
"Players sold their services to the highest bidder, much like the hired guns of the Old West."
That's now. Go to the money or bring friends to make superteams. In the 90s and before they HATED other teams, trades usually then from the owners, not the players getting their way.

The NBA was not big in the 80s. It was rarely on tv. Was it bigger than in the 70s? Sure but for the most part nobody watched.Magic and Bird brought the eyeballs and it was generally good to kick back and watch then and in the 90s although it was about the same teams at the top for long stretches.
Repeating but it seems like the most I hear about the NBA is Twitter drama.
Agree on the skill level though. Seems like everyone can do everything but it's had an inverse effect on how interesting it is.
Stockton talked about it and basically said they did stuff not medically recommended to get back out, I think you won’t see that come back in any sport.Yes it's an extreme of example. However I bet if you looked up Jordan, Ewing, Malone, Darkly, and have huge difference between miss games / total games.

Omfg they do play defense. 1. You can't pack the lane and clog things up with the 3 point line out that far. 2. When 7 footers started being able to hit 3 and cross people over 25 ft. from the basket it naturally became impossible to defend. I can tell you don't watch the NBA because they do attempt to play defenseI stopped watching NBA about 20 years ago, but did watch some Bulls games when Hoiberg was their coach. I just don't find the game appealing anymore. Players are not as tough and they don't play much D. I am a lifelong Bulls fan and used to love watching them play the Pistons, Lakers, Celtics, Pacers, etc. Those were some intense battles.
Not like you think it did. Jordan got it rolling. The NBA finals were on freaking tape delay and in in the afternoons in the 80s.It wasn't what it has been but those two got things rolling for interest.

Add the influx of European talent and the league is WAY better from a telent standpoint than it was 20 years ago. It's not even close. The depth 1-15 is off the charts. The NBA is the best basketball product in the world. They need to reduce the number of games so guys play more and ratchet up the intensity. And they need to tweak the rules to make the 3 point shot harder, like move the line back.
But from a basketball standpoint, it’s top notch.
