NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

I disagree about the NFL. It's a stars league in the NBA, but in the NFL with all of the injuries you need a culture and a full roster.
At the very least you have to have an elite QB to win a SB. Outside of Nick Foles which Super Bowl winning QB hasn't been an all-pro caliber. Mahomes is Jordan like. I'm not trading him for the Eagles top 15 players.

to me this is underselling Reid.

Top 15, or even top 5 from Eagles onto Chiefs curb stomp the Mahomes Eagles.

This is so true. Look at the list, they are all HOF worthy, the exceptions besides Foles are Russell Wilson, Brad Jackson, and Trent Dilfer and those guys were game managers that had outstanding Defensive teams.

And speaking of LT... hopefully the Chiefs can shore that up in the offseason. Taylor is still eating up a lot of $ at RT and has been a terrible signing which is really limiting them to be able to spend on upgrades at the tackles. Taylor is the 3rd highest paid player on the Chiefs unfortunately. They can't get out from him until after 2026 when he'd cost only a $7.4 mil dead cap it instead of nearly $35 mil dead cap hit they'd take if they cut him now.
One reason the Chiefs are able to have the roster they have is their minimal dead cap hits. I think it's one of the lowest in the league. Have to use your money and use it wisely. I could see them letting it play out with Taylor.

We're talking about player personnel right? I mean Andy is probably the best offensive mind in NFL history but exactly how many titles did he have before 15 got to town. He's becoming more than a generational talent. He could be once in a lifetime.

Russel Wilson was an absolute star in Seattle. Top 5 QB during those Seahawks runs. Don't let the last few years let you forget how good he once was. He was legit #3 in the league for a few years behind Manning and Brady.

Well sure Flacco and Wilson were top tier QBs for the era, but the rest of recent list of SB winners are HOF worthy. Of course most of them are Brady, Mahomes, or Manning (Eli or Payton) with a Big Ben, Rodgers, Warner, Favre thrown into the mix

Russell Wilson has a Hall of Fame resume.
Probably, but I'm guessing not first ballot. He's only got one 2nd team All-pro. Never showed up in MVP voting. Was good, not great in both SBs and didn't win MVP in the first one. Might have in the second, although if they run Lynch and win, he probably gets it. Probably the third best QB in the NFC during his time with Seattle behind Rodgers and Brees. Some don't put a lot of weight on Pro Bowls, but having 10 is a good indicator of sustained success.

Honestly, Stafford, Flacco, and Wilson are going to be interesting HOF cases. That SB win will be doing the heavy lifting, and only Flacco has a SB MVP to go with it.

The INT in the SB is going to cost him the HOF I would guess. Just run the ball there and they win the game, not many QB's have won two super bowls and not made the HOF. Hell its the only reason Eli Manning is even being mentioned for it.
SB wins alone have gotten quite a few guys in. Was Troy Aikman really a HOFer? Bradshaw too

Throw Phillip Rivers in there too as guys with an argument.

Both Bradshaw and Aikman were QB's running the most dominate teams of their era, that alone would get them into the HOF. Looking at their stats, I would say Aikman would get in, but no way Bradshaw does if he was not playing for the Steelers and winning 4 SBs.

Joe Namath too
I was going to mention him, but while his stats are nothing to really look at, his personality and what he meant to the league at that time were undeniable, playing in NY and the attention he brought to the league tells me he makes it in. Stats wise, no, but sometimes its more than stats.

Hall of Fame personality for sure. They should have put his fur coat in Canton. That's where you get into the argument of what is th Hall of Fame about? To me it's performance. Pat Tillman is one of the few exceptions I'll make. We sure as hell aren't putting the Boz in

Having won MVPs in both the SBs and who he beat are certainly going to makes his case because he has even fewer regular season awards than Rivers.
