He’s much more than that. He’s elite as a 17 year old. He’s having a top-5 all-time KenPom POY season while on a top KenPom team. Granted, Broome is having an even better season

He is not 17 years old anymore. He is just few months younger than ordinary freshman. He is not an efficient scorer. He is a more of volume scorer than efficient scorer. Even including his current hot streak, he is still 46% overall and 31% from 3 pts.

I don't know why you would when you can get in-depth stats, scores, highlights, etc of the exact teams that you're interested in with a click of the mouse, rather than spend an hour hoping they mention something about it. For that matter, you can also find a clip of it later if they do mention it.

I'm not saying there's no bias, but...

The Duke game was against Pitt, who was the top "receiving votes" team in the AP poll (#26), so a more impressive win than ISU last night (Duke also won by 29). The highlights of #6 Kentucky were of them getting upset by an unranked Georgia team. And #7 Marquette played a close game at home against unranked Georgetown where they almost got upset.

Would it be nice if they would show extensive highlights of Iowa State beating another Big 12 team by 23? Yeah, I guess. But when a top 10 team is playing a non-tournament team, the game is more likely to get covered if it's a big upset rather than if it's an expected win. So in that sense, I'm not too upset that it didn't get much coverage.

Yes, but if it was Duke v. Utah, you can bet your bum there would be highlights. That said, I'm with most on this thread in that I guess I didn't even know whether SportsCenter still existed.

I agree with this 100%. What’s everyone’s favorite app or website? I don’t watch ESPN anymore, but I’m admittedly still in the habit of going there for scores. Just probably used to the layout more than anything.

I mostly still use their app because it has more teams that it will keep track of. I think otherwise cbs sports would maybe be fine?

It’s clear it’s your bias that’s the issue on this. Lol, just a few months younger.

You can’t put up a top-5 all-time KenPom season without being efficient and effective for that level of volume

The award you’re thinking of is shooter of the year award, which no one has him contending for.

I also think sportscenter is useful for showing ESPN’s bias/treatment of Iowa State and the Big 12. Sure, you can get Iowa State highlights elsewhere, but it shows that they don’t care about Iowa State and the Big 12 and will take actions that hurt the conference.

Sports Center has no ISU highlights. Duke was given extensive coverage twice in the first 20 minutes. #6 and #7 highlights. Indoor golf twice. Even Iowa Nebraska game highlights. Unbelievable.

Flagg turned 18 in December of his first year of college basketball, Royce turned 20 in the April before his only year, so he was like 2.5 years older for the time you're comparing their stats.

Now, if you know you want the product, there’s no issue getting it directly delivered.

But for the millions that aren’t familiar with the product, or primarily window shop for their CBB knowledge, we still rely on ESPN for advertising- to inform mass consumers

I know some used to not care about this, but I’d hope recent realignment would have enlightened

I’m not saying Flagg isn’t better, but is he really this amount of hype better? I think not. It seems like the standard for great players has dropped.

A lot of it is just who is THE guy in college as the prospect with the most excitement and NBA upside.

Royce wasn't going to get the hype because the team was an 8 seed, Anthony Davis was clearly a better NBA prospect and was probably 2 years younger than Royce.

This year the best college player right now is Broome. ESPN hypes guys based on NBA upside that happen to also play well in college, not guys that are great college players that may or may not project to have high NBA upside.

SC sucks but I was watching like a week ago and Seth Greenberg was "All in on this Iowa State team", so I wouldn't look into it too much.

Also I saw a tweet about Flagg last night talking about how he's having one of the best seasons analytically in the history of college basketball, however Broome from Auburn is doing even better. So yes, Flagg is an absolute stud. Still a young pup too.

I didn't get a chance to watch the Pop-Tart bowl and had ESPN on the next day. Their coverage did not show 1 play from the ISU offense which won the game and scored 40+ points. All Miami. Pissed me off.

Flagg is a stud and will have a long NBA career. Royce is quite frankly a loser and a weirdo who has one good season for a decent ISU team. I don’t understand why you are making this comp.

It didn't matter if Royce was a model citizen, he wasn't going to be a top pick, or even top 5. Guys that are 21 at the draft, and are 6'8" and can't shoot aren't going to be top 5 picks, and they sure as hell aren't generational talents.

Yep, that’s the point. Companies advertise to increase demand.

We need as much “advertising” as possible. ESPN is still the singular most influential advertiser for college football and basketball programs
