And for all the ******** about losing people over the 7% increase, you are also going to lose people that don't want to be surrounded by a ton of drunk people.

Evidence has shown that serving inside the stadium actually reduces incidents because people are less likely to load up before coming in.

My guess is that we'll hear relatively soon about that. It seems pretty obvious that it will roll into the AD.

Agreed. I'm more hoping there's a way to earmark donations for compensation. I don't need tickets/parking priority.

It’s encouraging to hear that it sounds like we are going to be close to the maximum revenue sharing for athletes allowed. They way Williams and Blum has made it sound, we we’re going to be around the 15 million number, plus or minus. It’s nice to see that the administration understands that in order for us to continue to be competitive (and continue our momentum), we need to at the maximum of paying our athletes.

I really don’t want people dumping beer on me all game
I have to say, attending the eiu basketball game this year at the Carver hole in the ground, people constantly going to get beer or pee was kind of a pain and made watching the game less enjoyable.

I get the opportunity for a new revenue stream and I like beer. But hell, I’d spend half the game in the john with my urinary system.

Evidence has shown that you are more likely to be spilled on if it is sold ;). Either way, it isn't netting enough to not do some of this stuff, so the argument is dumb.

Initially I thought this was a rah rah piece. Expected the price increases to not be announced until the next email

The argument that ISU shouldn't be doing absolutely everything it can to raise *any* dollars when they are making fan-unfriendly moves like this is dumb

Beer sales are maybe going to net you a bit over a million. Nobody is getting rich off beer sales. It’s more for fan experience
which i think is something for isu to consider in the new age of fandom
or shoot, at least improve the concession stand expereience

in the 20+ sporting stadiums ive been to, Hilton and JTS have some of the worst concession stand options, process, experience.

Just look at this as 7% increase in price. If it wasn't the sales tax thing, they'd just be increasing ticket prices. Who cares what they call it? Frankly, it was stupid that they weren't doing this before.
Agree, and I think one can't be surprised that prices and such would increase following an 11-win season.

@alarson ok I see you are hammering a bunch of dumbs out there. We have to get to $20 million in increased budget due to revenue sharing. We also have to take care of the two revenue generating coaches with new contracts. Which I guarantee both are taking less than they should. What’s your answer to get to $20 million without raising prices?

Because it’s a product of poor planning and revenue generation by JP.

The conference payouts have greatly increased in last 15-20 years. More money than ever coming in from CFP.

Yet we can’t handle the $20 million for the singular most important input to the AD

Perhaps stop pissing away money on non-revenue, start selling beer (the least you can do if increasing prices), get onboard with PE, etc

In this transformational time, best to borrow on from the future than risk inelasticity killing it

They absolutely are an easy thing to cut. We will find out.

Please help me - what is the alternative?
There isn't one. CFB is becoming a ******** of costs, and it's going to cause programs to shrink or close up shop in the long run.

There's always the "sell beer!" angle, but even that wouldn't be a permanent solution, just a bandage. The costs will never stop going up until the entire landscape implodes and something completely different rises up after.

Essentially the AD has been paying the sales tax on ticket sales for us. They are no longer doing this. Honestly the State Legislature should just make University Ticket sales sales tax exempt.
Everyone contact their representatives and get the tickets exempt

We're also not in a position to turn down revenue generators. If it nets us $500,000.00 in a year, then that's an additional 500k we didn't have. I've been to plenty of sporting events where beer is sold and never seen issues of people having beer spilled all over them. Even if it does happen, its probably already happening with people sneaking in beers.

$20 million is a **** ton of money. I'm not sure why you think it would be easy for the AD to find.

We also have to pay our elite coaches an ever increasing amount of money.

They have known about the $20 million number for like a year. How is that poor planning? This stuff came insanely fast

"Fan unfriendly moves like this", give me a ******* break. You want cheap tickets go watch Grand View. This is big time college football and it costs money.

Also fans can get in for cheap already.
