Are we actually worried about the ramifications of this game? This is pure fan fiction.
I think there are ramifications. We win and we'll likely be ranked to start next season. We lose we likely won't be ranked.

It's stupid, but if you're not in the preseason top 25, it's so hard to move up the polls during the year, and if you manage to do it, it's so easy to drop out after a loss.

The dilution and expansion of conferences means nobody's schedule tells them much about the quality of the team in relation to their conference mates. Now more than ever it's important to be ranked early.

Miami's schedule was a complete joke, they literally played no one of note. And in many of those games against crappy teams, they had to rally late to win. Their defense also is total garbage.
Why is that a reason to support us winning? Their schedule is pretty comparable to ours.

Miami’s best wins: Louisville (8-4), Duke (9-3), Florida (8-5)

Our best wins: Kansas State (9-4), Baylor (8-4), Iowa (8-4)

Why would it matter of we are in the preseason to 25? We have to win the CC to make the playoffs anyways. I suppose it would make it better seeding wise but if they are going to give the top 4 byes then it's still not going to be us unless we go undefeated.

From a talent aspect, Miami should win this handily... but talent isn't everything... that's the part I'm counting on.

But if we come out and play, and coach, like we did against Arizona State, we will get murdered. We need to have a better gameplan AND my pet peeve... we need to PLAY TO WIN... no conservative BS... let the kids play... no holding back!!!

Louisville, Duke and Syracuse are pretty good. Other than that, they didn't play much. But neither did we. Iowa, Baylor, and KSU are decent. I actually think Kansas is good. But other than that, we didn't play anyone. Notice I didn't put Tech in there. I think they are a fraud. The only decent team they beat was us, and that was because we were walking wounded for that game. They got killed in their two non conference games against WSU and Arkansas. Bottom line is I do not think we can rip on Miami's schedule because I don't think ours was any better.

I guess it depends on what you think of the ACC as a conference. I think it sucks. Duke, Syracuse, and Louisville are slightly above average teams, IMO, that feasted on equally weak non-con and ACC con schedules. Miami played Fla in their first game, before Fla started getting their **** together. SMU turned out to be a complete fraud as well. They were dominated by PSU and it looked like the Varsity vs Pop Warner.

Yes, our schedule isn't top ten good, but to my eyes the Big XII is a much better conference top to bottom than the ACC. The middle to bottom teams in the ACC are awful and much worse than the same in the Big XII or any other power conference.

You probably wouldn't have said that before the game.
That Oregon team won 4 games all season and finished 3rd in the weaker division of the P12. The only reason they played in the Fiesta Bowl was because of conferences and teams opting out.

That Oregon team won the PAC 12 title after beating USC in the PAC 12 Championship game, and received the conference automatic bid.

Doesn’t change the fact that they were 4-2 and wouldn’t even have made the CCG until Washington didn’t have enough players due to Covid. They also didn’t start playing games until November 7th.

People forget how weird that season was.

Doesn’t matter. What I posted is factual.

Bet the media will be pushing for a rematch (ISU vs Miami 2.0) in a future year now. As long as it is in the CFP next time, bring them on.
