Boy, you sure know how to call em. Scattebo shouldn't scare anyone at all and Cyclone fans should be prepared to party.

The only thing you got right is that the game wouldn't be close.
Yep because I should have been able to call our defense completely forgetting how to tackle. Also, see the comment about ISU spotting them points? That also happened. Would you rather me be pessimistic like you and your fellow rotters?

Thanks, my friend. Nothing but respect to you guys. That first half I was just waiting for the Higgins / Noel floodgates to open on us, but shockingly we started pressuring Becht. We haven't done that all season, I truly don't even know where it came from. Then to have Guillory step up as huge as he did... I had hoped, but couldn't have imagined how well our receivers would step up sans Tyson.

You are a hell of a fanbase and a hell of a team, I'll be rooting for you guys whenever it doesn't negatively impact ASU.
Congrats. Whipped us fair and square. Although I was about to change my mind about ASU after the targeting hit on our QB. Did not care for that or your coaches initial rxn to it.

I will give you a pass this time, and root for you from here on. Enjoy the win.

Absolutely nothing wrong with being optimistic. Just makes me shake my head when someone states their predictions as though they are facts and dismisses others' opinions, especially when that person's prediction couldn't have been more wrong.

I hope you win it all. You kicked our butt.
You have a very good, and underrated team.

I hear you. I'd have hated to see that too, especially with the game going how it was and emotions were high. I was upset to see Becht on the ground. My fiancé and I said a little prayer when we saw him not get up right away. As a football fan I live for big hits, but only the ones that don't result in injury.

I've got my disagreements about that being a targeting penalty, but I'll make that argument over on my board. That's not super relevant here.

Wish you guys nothing but the best. I woke up today honestly in a bit of disbelief that we won like we did against such a quality team. Nothing but respect to you guys.

I hope you guys blast whoever you end up in a bowl game with. Not just because that looks great for us, but because I just want to see your team kick some butt and rep the Big 12. I watched the press conference with your players and I ended up feeling a weird mixture of happiness that we won, but genuine sadness to see the look on your guys faces. I'm sure they are going to bounce back strong, though. You've got an excellent coach.

Textbook targeting. Too bad you can't just take the massive win. The true problem was your player laughing and yucking it up about making an illegal hit. Stay classy ******* and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Nothing textbook about it. He was "facemask up" aiming for the chest pads. Becht happened to finish his progression on the left and as he shifts right he bends his knees and faces Simmons at the moment of impact. If Becht waits even .5 seconds longer looking the other way there is zero head or neck contact. That was about as bang-band a play as you can get.

I know emotions are high so I'm not going to debate it, it was a mistake to make that comment on this board. I wouldn't be happy with it either if I was in your shoes. But I believe it objectively was not targeting.

Briefly, since you brought it up, explain why you believe that was not targeting. It clearly fit the definition of the rule.

The targeting rule states that players cannot:

  • Make forcible contact with an opponent using the crown of their helmet

  • Make forcible contact with an opponent's head or neck area using their helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow, or shoulder

  • Launch into an opponent with a hit to the head or neck area

  • Forcibly hit a defenseless player in the head or neck area
In addition, the player's behavior after the hit kinda confirmed the intent there, in my mind. Given the game situation it was a totally unnecessary and obviously dangerous hit, and that's not sour grapes coming from Cyclone fans pointing it out.

I told my wife that if I'm ever a big enough loser to post on the other team's message board about how great they are, and how I want them to win the rest of their games, to just shoot me in the ******* face and bury me in the backyard. My children don't need to see that kind of fall from grace.

It was textbook targeting. Intent* no longer matters, hasn't in a long time. Its not a subjective call. You can argue intent* all you want, but that is getting called targeting 100/100 times. We've been on 'your' end of that same call countless times. Just because you don't like it (the rule) doesn't mean it is not targeting.

*anyone besides the player involved is guessing at intent.

Sure, he didn't make the impact with the crown of his helmet, he went in face mask first. He didn't launch, he was running straight through. In terms of the head/neck area hit, the reason I believe that's a no call is because he wouldn't have if Becht hadn't turned to the right in that moment to read his progressions on the right side. An example I'll use would be the no-call in the Texas/Georgia game last night. If the offensive player's movement is what moves their head in to the path of a defender who is too close to change course, I believe that should be a no call.

Simmons is a good dude. Not a dirty player at all. There's no way he ran in there thinking "I'm aiming for the head" and I think on replay you can clearly see he was aiming for chest pads. (Watch the replay they do on the broadcast from lower angle and you can clearly see his facemask up aiming for the chest pads.)

Compounding your "mistake" I see. Very classy. But only a c- troll job.
