Their defense is similar to KSU's against the run, and similar to UCF and Cinci's against the pass.

As far as Skattebo goes, he shouldnt scare anyone at all. He is a good back, but his YPG average is as high as it is because ASU has been able to beat up on bad defenses. Miss. State gave up 262 on the ground to him alone, AZ gave up 177, and KU and OSU gave up 335 combined. AZ, and OSU are the worst rush defenses in the B12.

For point of reference, Wyoming and Texas State gave up 111 yards to Skattebo, combined. K-State kept him under 80.

IMO, those of you going down for the game need to be prepared to party, because I dont think this game is all that close, unless ISU decides to spot ASU some points

I watched the ASU v AZ game and I couldn’t tell if ASU was that good or if AZ was really just that bad. Kinda leaning towards the latter

I'll say this, I feel like this is a massively better matchup for Iowa State than the last time we played in the Championship game.

ISU rush defense against Skateboo will decide the game. He almost never goes down on first contact. Remains to be seen if Tyson's injury will allow the DB's to stay M2M and the rest focuses on Skateboo. Leavitt is legit too, so pass rush will have to be on one.

Not sure about ASU's defense though. May have to be a bit of a shootout type of game.

Skattebo could go for 200, I don't think this will decide the game though, because I think our offense will play well. I imagine this will be fairly high scoring game.

Agreed, I think CW said the o/u was 51. I'd hit that over for sure.

"Dont use logic to prove my feelings wrong" is how i took this.

While i think he is VERY good, i am curious to hear your thoughts on this

Stats are so dependent on who you’ve played and the relative abilities of your teammates vs opponents. So I guess just call it an eye test since that’s all the rage in CFB these days.

Arizona is a hot mess right now. They had the money to fire Brennan, then supposedly 2 donor families nixed it. He's having to fire his major coordinators and start all over.

I would imagine they get killed in the portal again this year and the recruiting hasn't exactly taken off either. The fan base is turning FAST.

Not a bad take. Looking at stats though, G5 teams like TSU and Wyoming held him to under 70 yards. Not sure why OSU and AZ couldnt figure it out

1,569 of Leavitt's 2,444 passing yards (64.2%) have been to Tyson and Skattebo. Also, Leavitt is only 11th in the conference in passing yards. As mentioned he does have a good passer rating, due in part to low interceptions. They have a good tight end in Metayer. They have completed a total of 30 passes for 453 yards and 3 touchdowns to their 2nd and 3rd wide receivers. Guillory, their number 2 WR, does have big play ability.

Super even matchup on paper.

For our offense, some teams have moved the ball on them pretty well, but they are +11 in TO margin this year. That has saved them in some of their close games. Rush defense has been their strong suit, middle of the pack pass defense. Bottom half of the country with 21 sacks. Seems like a game where we need to get the ball to Jaylin/Jayden early and often. Keep Rocco clean and take care of the ball, I think we put up some points.

For our defense, stopping the run was going to be the priority no matter what. With Tyson out, that's just amplified more. I think it's a similar deal to K-State, where Johnson/Giddens is every bit as good of a ground tandem as Leavitt/Skattebo. If we can bottle up the run on early downs then we can hopefully force a young QB into some mistakes, especially down his top target. Would be great if Verdon can go too.

It feels like an okay matchup if we can keep getting healthier. Not going to be easy by any means though. Expecting another tight one that comes down to turnovers and special teams.

Feel a lot better with Tyson out.

Skattebo is a very good running back but might not be a top 3 RB we’ve seen all year. Giddens, Neal, Brooks, Harvey, Johnson all are the same level or better.

Yeah it feels like the redzone is going to be key. With as good of a rushing attack as ASU has I would have thought they were great inside the 20 but with their lack of consistent FG kicking they end up having to go on 4th a lot. We're around 85% RZ efficiency this year and they are at 76% with most of their stops being turnovers on down or FG misses.
