We used to make the best Sunday morning pizza omelets out of leftover Saturday night Pizza Pit pizza. Of course that was in 1982. Their recipe may have changed since then.

Which leads me to a question for old timers that are even older than me. How long has Pizza Pit been around and has it always been at that same location? I know it goes back to at least the late 70s.

At least 1977. I’m guessing ‘75 or. ‘76. Same location.

1 night of inferno wings and 1 night of my butthole being on fire is just a nice way to spend a weekend.
You are not kidding! The inferno wings are good at first then the heat really sneaks up on you. Back in college a guy on my floor and I would order 2 lbs of wings to split at least once a week. One time we were about 3 or 4 wings in and we both noticed the wings seemed a lot more spicy than usual. He checks the box and finds out they gave us inferno wings instead of the regular wings. Needless to say we both felt the burn that night and next day from them.

My freshman year at least once or twice a week we'd all order the $5 late night special 1 topping pizzas and I'm sure I probably had nights I ate a whole pizza myself. The sandwiches are great too, I like the roast beef and classic combo the most. Usually could find coupons in booklets they had at the MU and book stores where you could get a deal on those something like 2 sandwiches, chips, pickles, and cans of pop for like $10.99 which was a few bucks off their normal price. Pizza Pit is definitely one of those staples you have to make a point to get when you have a chance to when you come to Ames. Just so happens Welch Ave Station was and still is my favorite bar in Ames. They used to have $1 daquiris on Thursdays, not a lot of liquor in them but they were so good. Usually got some garlic cheese bread or Moz sticks as an app those nights too
