Be safe!! Agree this looks like a week or more no power.

Luckily my evacuation plan is to get to Sarasota airport and on a plane back home tomorrow morning. Got lucky on timing as obviously didn’t know Milton was happening when I booked flights.

9 news channel showed some of the interstates heading out of area and they already look busy!!!

Awesome, great news on the flight! I’m heading up to stay with some friends in Destin for a few and All the Best to your place on Anna Maria !!

Things can change, but current forecast path looks like a direct hit on Tampa Bay. NE side of hurricanes are usually the worst, so that will compound problems.
The big annual convention for my industry started in Tampa yesterday. They had the opening speech and then sent everyone home. This conference attracts like 5,000 attendees plus guests.

I’m sure they’re not the only ones this is happening to but I can’t imagine the problems that crates at the airport.

That sounds like a nightmare. I can only imagine people are having to drive to Orlando etc to get new flights.

One small point of clarification on this. The right side or in this instance the south side will be the "stronger" part.

I think they made a good choice by calling it.

It is very odd to watch the satellite loop and watching a storm intensify like this while moving eastward.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that normally because hurricanes head west? East-tracking storms should normally see the highest wind speeds on the southern edge because of the CCW spin.

why did you lock the Milton thread? I wanted to hear more advanced meteorology from a flooring salesman

It's not locked anymore. I'm guessing they temporarily locked it to clean it up.

In non Milton news, is it ever going to cool down here?? After today, it’s mid 80s to the end of the week. This has to be rare for this time or year. It feels more like summer than parts of summer did. I’m ready for cool temps all day instead of this jacket weather walking the dog in the morning then t-shirt/shorts in the afternoon.

Sunday-Tuesday looks like highs in the lower 60's. So a brief cool down.

I have two co-workers in the Tampa area. One of them is on Madeira Beach and her entire neighborhood flooded out. They were in the process of gutting the house when they evacuated for Milton. Her house was build in 1979 and this was the first time it flooded. They are hoping to have a house to come home to. She said the entire area is one big trash pile from debris/housing materials. It's going to be a disaster area.

Other co-worker is further inland at Carrollwood. They are not planning to evacuate.
