Northwestern will be making >$21 million annually from the CFP alone, while the best team from the ACC will be making >$13 million. The best team from the Big 12 will be making >$12 million. I think it's funny how there are many schools in the Big 10 that are poor to mediocre at best in football who are on the same level playing field as everyone else in their conference for $$ distribution. I am a firm believer it's just a matter of time before the Michigan/OSU/PSU/USC/Wash/OR teams finally look at the Indiana, Maryland, NW, Purdon't, Minn, Rutgers, etc. and say "We're sick of carrying you guys along. We can make much more money without you guys"
They would make even more money in payouts with P4 inventory aggregation and bidding it out NFL style plus there would be rational geographic realignment. That is why Tennessee AD, Danny White, is a CST Ambassador.
But didn't all those other networks have the chance to bid on the expanded playoffs that ESPN just locked up as the sole bidder?
History speaks for itself. The bottom feeders of the Big 10 and SEC are not immune to realignment. It's always about money. And the elite programs will continue to find ways to allocate more of the money to themselves. These realignments are far from over
The B1G has been around since 1896 and has never once kicked out a member institution.

And the Pac 12 was around for over a hundred years and came out of the 2010 realignment looking like champs. Look where they are at now. Iowa will probably make the new super conference but if the powers in the Big Ten and SEC have a way to "merge" and shed the teams not bringing in the revenue they receive, why would they keep them?

Yeah but the PAC was essentially dying as a conference. That's the exact opposite of where the B1G and SEC are. Comparing those situations is just kind of silly IMO.
This has been discussed a lot and the simple reason isn’t show elite programs stay elite by exploiting many inherent advantages they have. Moving into a 20 team super league will cause massive damage to those brands as they regularly rack up losing seasons. In addition to the fact that a 20 team super league would alienate so many fan bases that the ratings would tank and the money would dry up.

I never said the Big Ten (or SEC) is going to die. You are kidding yourself if you don't think that Michigan, OSU, USC, UW, OR, Bama, Georgia, Texas are just going to sit on their hands if they believe they can make more money by getting rid of teams not holding their weight. Just hope your hawks make the cut.
