I've attended every home game since 1999. Saturday is going to be a historically well attended game, top 20 in Jack Trice history. Its looking like the Baylor, UCF, and Tech games will all get close to a sell out, if not getting there. Cincinnati and Kansas St. have more tickets left and probably will depend on how we do between now and then.

Because Iowa dropped off the schedule. You are probably the only one who sat around saying " man I would have got season tickets if they had only beaten Ohio and Memphis."

Yeah just from looking at average attendance figures we are probably about 1500-2000 higher in season average during Iowa years. I assume most of that is additional season tickets since the entire season is higher. Not just an ISU thing either, Kinnick is similar, although it looks to me like the impact is about double that for them.

Aren't there only a couple hundred seats left? What's every worried? The place is going to be 99% full. If no one told you it wasn't a sellout no one would even be able to realize it because it's going to be absolutely packed.

Also I'm so excited for this day and game. Tip Top before the tailgate, nice weather although a bit hot, but then a cooler night game where the sun won't be pelting us. White out, fireworks, new uniforms (with a new helmet logo), Dan McCarney in the house and an opportunity to go 5-0 for the first time since 1980.

Someone probably already did this but here's the complete list of 61,500 attendance days in Iowa State history. The Baylor game will be 61,500 announced attendance by kickoff too.

As has been mentioned, we have never sold out the new 61,500 capacity stadium in an even-numbered year - although we sucked in 2016 and 2022, and 2020 was 2020.

Family of four can go to the game for $70 x 4 = $280. 7 games x $280 = $1960. With parking you are probably looking at $2500. Not cheep, but if you compare that to any NFL or NBA tickets it is very inexpensive. I bet it is inexpensive compared to most P4 teams too.

We watch NFL games on TV too.

We don't have any die hard ISU fans that tailgate. We have friends who are loyal to a whole bunch of different teams. We all love to get together maybe 3 or 4 Saturdays in the fall and watch football all day and night at someone's house. Grilling, drinking, and yard games are all included. So much better than taking my wife and kids to Ames by ourselves(our close ISU fan friends might go to one ISU game a year) and spending a fortune.

I don't get it either. But there has been a pretty clearly coordinated push from everyone at CF on social media and in the podcasts to sell this game out. Which, fine, we all want sellouts. But there's been a weird urgency to it.

I think there's a nervousness when it comes to the finances in general since next year the $22 million kicks in and ISU only had $5 million in We Will funds last year. I think everyone is worried we won't be able to meet goals.

Odd debate going on here whether a “sell out” or being short a hundred or so means anything. If a picture is taken from the blimp, the guy drinking a beer in his recliner watching on TV will say “hey honey ISU stadium is full today” and that’s all that matters. As the Iowa fan base ages, all their non-resident graduates go back to Chicago and the realty of the new B10 kicks in with Ferentz hanging on…there is a real opportunity for ISU to grow a fan base. The growth of the DM metro along with the potential of a winning CMC program in the new B12 is all positive. Don’t under value CyTown either. If the above all plays out they may have to add seats……just kidding, kinda.

ISU has a real opportunity over the next few years to really grow the fan base, there are a lot of fans that are not hard core ISU/EIU fans and would go to a game or two but only if they are winning. EIU has made a living off those fans over the past 40 years, now is the time to change it, we have a great shot to get into the playoffs on a regular basis, EIU is going to find it harder without that pillow soft B10 west schedule and freerents is not getting any younger, will be 70 next season.

Keep winning, pile up the 8/10 win seasons, getting to the championship game and make the playoffs now and then, ISU can get a lot of the average fans and start to make a real inroad into recruiting in the state.

Haven't read this hole thread, but just a couple of thoughts on the general situation.

Fans are pulled in a lot of directions and money is tighter now than it was in recent memory, so it doesn't' surprise me.

However, to me this is just an indication that the AD probably has the stadium priced right. From the business side of things, almost selling out at a higher price point is probably better than selling out at a lower. There is an old pricing increase chart that shows the impact of % increases on prices and if that costs you x customers your revenue is still even. So considering we are approaching a sellout seems weird, to the AD it might just be in indication that the cost of the event is about spot on.

And let's not forget that it is harvest time, and that always slows attendance to games.

Being at like 98% capacity is probably a good thing. Go research airline ticket prices, and find out why selling every seat means you didn't maximize your revenue. As long as they are close to 61,500, it's FINE.
