F1 2024 Discussion

I kind of think they told him. I mean all the announcers were basically saying it’s his last race. They swapped tires to get him the fastest lap for no real reason other than to let him go out on top.

It sucks but I get it, Lawson could get some really valuable experience before next year

It's just so cut throat in F1. Honestly as much as I love Danny he should have been done after the stint with McLaren and any other driver probably would have be. He got that shot with Red Bull because he's such a likeable (and marketable) guy.

Horner loves him. I could see why he got another shot. I mean he won in a Mclaren when it was still junk. It's not like he was driving Lando and Oscar's Mclarens from this year. He just lost it somewhere along the line. I think just being in a worse car after he was driving the Red Bull's back in the day killed his racing spirit. IT would be hard to be in the best car and then not even be able to compete. That is why I think Indy would be a good route for him.

They should have just openly announced last weekend was his last rather than have it filled with rumors and speculation.

He’s always very openly said he doesn’t want to race Indy cars, I could see him in F1 media in some way with his personality.

They made the Danny Ric news official today. WE shall see if it's a good move or not. Danny still has a lot of value as a driver somewhere, most likely not F1 but someone will scoop him up.

Yeah, he deserves a real send off instead of whatever the heck their plan was last week. RB handled it pretty terribly.

He's always big in Austin so it would have made sense to send him off there but that's in another month (wow didn't realize there was another month break, I kinda new to F1).

Ricardo out for Lawson is official. Selfishly hopes he ends up in Indy.

Here's my thing with Indy... with the scaling down and now only 3 teams per team in 2025. Do you really think F1 rejects (I'm using that term as nicely as possible) taking up seats for drivers who truly deserve that seat?

Bottas has said he'd want to. Sargeant has a testing session set up, but does Danny want Indy? i know he's made comments he'd be scared shitless on the ovals.

Kym with a pretty good recap of how weird Danny Rics last farewell was. He mentions Marko wanted him gone and Horner wanted him to stay. Horner asked him to go take the fastest lap from Norris.

Also a nice tribute

Don’t think it matters if you deserve it. Are you driving fast and can they market you? They really need to grow the sport right now. With known names you can do that. Indy would do good ratings with Danny behind the wheel. Indy needs ratings badly

This has been rumored for a while but it's still sad to see Renault stop building F1 powertrains after 50 years.
