I've been off the hooch for a few weeks now, planning a 2-3 month alcohol detox which we do annually. I have an indica vape for that same purpose, as well as a sativa (sometimes hybrid) for when I just want to take the edge off without pouring a drink. So, I guess, "California" sober.
I use my pen and NA beer when I’m avoiding booze. Great for relaxing, but not as much for socializing.

I think every person I know who started smoking weed in like high school prefers smoking to edibles, but every person i know who started using weed products as an adult prefers edibles
Yeah, give me gummies over flower any day.

I smoked a few times in high school and college, then didn’t touch it for about 10 years when I started dating my now wife. She always had it around, but I never really got into it. Tried edibles for the first time when we moved to CA about 5 years ago and found it way better.

My happy spot is a 5mg, wait an hour, then two beers. Not really high, not drunk, just mellow.

Haha, I'm the opposite of your findings - started smoking weed in HS (or even slightly before), but now pretty much only partake with edibles/occasional vape. If flower wasn't so pungent I'd be much more likely to keep it on-hand. The last time I opened some joints from a dispensary the smell filled the whole floor of our AirBnB lol.
A billion percent yes. Laundry, burping, etc. It has a lingering effect.

Let me guess, newbs eating edibles most of the time. It's so easy to overdo it with those.

It is? Seems easy to control, the dosages are clearly labeled. I would think smoking it would be much harder to control.

My m.o. is you can always take more but you cannot take less.
Problem is it can take so damn long. The first time I tried an edible I ate some and waited.... and waited.... and waited... nothing. It was like 2 hours. Then I ate dinner and I was sitting there watching TV and suddenly I realized I was really stoned. I figure I didn't have enough in my stomach to get the digestion going but once I ate boom!

Well, some of that is experiences with home made stuff, but I remember reading articles about edibles being a big problem with people trying it for the first time and not being patient enough and taking too much.

I didn't say the m.o. was flawless haha. Don't you wish you had taken less though. It's also more my m.o. with other pyschotropics

There is a thc concentrate that comes in s syringe - no needle, but a small opening. The size u squirt out is the size of a grain of rice. That is the perfect amount. However, it very easy to get too much and be stoned for a day. I had a good friend who is a very respected realtor and she just wanted to sleep. She didn't know how much to take. She digested the gel that was the size of a pea. She was stoned for two days. ER room and all.....

She laughs about it now, but was very distressed for 48 hours.

This is almost the exact problem. It’s either they took way to much (for them) because it wasn’t working or they got the dosage wrong from mistake.

You can get people high off their gourd coming into the ED but there is nothing we can do really unless they are having a panic attack, horrible nausea, or heart issues. If it’s not one of those 3 there is no point of coming in. They are almost always friendly though (unless having paranoia) so that’s nice.

I was cool with it because I had smoked plenty and was used to it, but I'm sure if if it was my first time I would have freaked out. I just like smoking because I can take a hit and wait 10 to 15 minutes and see where I'm at and adjust accordingly. I'm sure if I used edibles on a regular basis I would know what works for me and get it dialed in, but I guess I'm old school. Lol.

I got a med card last week (Parkinson’s is one of the few eligible ailments due to pain, tremors, tightness, etc). I got a bunch of different gummies (technically not associated to the med card as IA doesn’t allow flavors and such) and have had some good results. Only thing I’ve found in 42 years that truly calms me with all my mental ****. Finding the right ratios seems (very little or no CBD in my case) to be the key.

Last night tried a vape for the first time (I’ve never done any drugs, not even alcohol) and that was interesting. Didn’t do it right, coughed for 20 mins, and wanted to start slow so didn’t do anything more. After dinner round 2 tonight will be interesting. Warning for anything I may post.

I will say that after researching THC, THCA, THCP, D9, HHC, etc - not to mention the million varieties and formats - is a never ending hole. Feel like a 5 year old trying to learn calculus.

Good for you and congratulations on the next step. I am an outrageously horrible sleeper. I utilize it to try to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep. I've learned when to take the gummies and use the Vape. PM me if you want to. It will become clear to you and it will not be that complicated.

At the next family gathering, I'll bring Pink Floyd's the Wall movie and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Congrats and good luck on your journey. Good idea to start slow, you can always take more but the only fix for too much is riding it out.

Research is great, but ultimately it's a lot of trial and error to find the right mix that works for you.

You’re on your way! You’ll have a dab rig and a gravity bong set up in your sink in no time lol.

Well I guess I need to learn patience. Things weren't really noticeable so after a few minutes I went again. A few more minutes and again. Then I wanted to see if the air filter that you blow into works (we hate the smell of smoke, weed, etc). By the time those 30 mins were up, I felt like Shaggy in the Mystery Machine.

Good news - that's the first time my muscles have relaxed and not hurt since getting Parkinson's. It's also the first time in 42 years where my mind was actually calm and not a mess of chaos.

Not sure if medicinal vape pens are different than recreational, but those things are wildly inconsistent unless you really know how to use them. It’s very, very hard to know if you’re getting anything or not, and by the time you do know, it’s too late and you’ve probably ingested more than you intended.

EDIT: I’m happy for you that you got your card. I truly believe it’s a miracle for a lot of issues, and specifically Parkinson’s. There is just too much evidence to ignore how life changing it can be.

I've found them remarkably consistent FWIW. I've never overdone a pen the way it's easy to do with edibles.
