Wait he actually fled Cuba? Like legit peaced the f out fled? No wonder this had to be kept in the dark.

@Tigerguy_ saying he's more athletic than AE makes me all gitty like a school girl. He will get a crash course on learning how to get out from bottom when Frost is glued to his back.

Keep this Cuban pipeline wide open. I don't care if it takes these guys a year to learn because once they do it's wide open ability

These guys all have extremely high talent. What we’ve seen so far with AE and Yonger is that talent is matched with discipline and work ethic. Sky is the limit.

Crabs is the only poster on ANY message board that I have blocked. My IQ is up and blood pressure down since that life improving event.

It always amazes me in these settings (not just wrestling but definitely including wrestling) across ALL ISU sports how well the guys do interacting with kids. They handle the chaos and attention largely very well. As a parent, that means a lot.
It’s not just an ISU thing. We interact with athletes across sports from another D1 university and it’s the same. I’m glad this is happening for these kids. It should be happening way more all over college sports.

I love this approach. We cannot do it the same way Penn State is doing it. I have long stated there has to 10 world-class wrestlers that would love an opportunity to come to Ames to train and get a degree. And, I have every reason to believe Dresser & co will continue to get better at transitioning these kids to life and folkstyle wrestling the more they do it. Just having 4 kids around the program already is huge.

Anyone know Yonger and AE's plans after this year? If they are sticking around Ames to train at the RTC, that'd be amazing. Those two, plus Reineri with the RTC and now Osmany, that has to be quite appealing to any future athletes that may come from Cuba. Quickly building a community they wouldn't find elsewhere in US wrestling and there are a lot of VERY talented cuban wrestlers. Aside from the aspect of just adding good wrestlers, what a way to give these young men a great opportunity at a new life outside of Cuba and have a wrestling community built in to help them assimilate to the states and folkstyle wrestling.

On the latest podcast with David Carr and Jaqueline, David mentioned them staying and growing the RTC.

Thought I heard both might try out MMA as well. I think Kyven Gadson announced that they’re building in MMA gym in Ames.

Are either of the other two Cubans who fled with Osmany coming to the CRTC?
I see one is older than Osmany and the other is one of their female wrestlers.

Maybe the continued Cuban pipeline will entice Dorian Olivarez to stick with wrestling into college and head to ISU.
I think I saw someone say his family has Cuban roots?

If Kyven brings in a good BJJ coach, that would probably entice Dorian and other guys to come to Ames who love pure grappling.
