So he would’ve been representing Cuba in the Olympics at 57 kg this year had he not left? Am I understanding this correctly?
No. He would have competed at Pan Ams for a chance to qualify for the Olympics. Sounds like he fled Cuba at the tournament and didn’t wrestle.

Wow! That is great news. I'm assuming he has 4 years (and a Redshirt) to acclimate to Folkstyle. I'm dreaming of Osmany at 125, E. Frost at 133, J. Frost at 141... Looks like a fun way to start any competition.
Don’t believe Osmany will wrestle folkstyle for 4 years. Hoping he goes for 2 years which allows Castillo to redshirt when he gets here to grow into 125

Is he good enough to beat out Kysen?
Maybe... However, I'd give him at least a year to learn Folkstyle. I can remember Yonger's first year and how he lost a number of matches because he didn't have the rules down yet. I'd also speculate that he has no experience in the top/bottom positions. I'm not saying he can't beat out Kysen but I am recommending we give him time to figure it out. IF he doesn't win the starting role he can redshirt and wrestle a ton of opens to learn the rules (and how to ride/escape). I'd also put his learning curve as a straight up rocket trajectory.

Has he been training in Ames for long, or at all? How is he adjusting to Folk? It took both Yonger and AE a full year to become the studs they are now.
I’ve heard Osmany is closer to Reineri level good and adjusting pretty well so far. Obviously there will be an adjustment period, but he might be the most athletic guy in the room

Why do you think he won't try to wrestle Folk for 4 years? I'd think with NIL and a College degree at the end of the road he'd be on the 4 to 5 year plan. That is what Yonger & Ech are doing.

Thanks for answering my question without being condescending like others..

To your point, I have doubts he is the guy right away. He has never wrestled folkstyle, let alone DI college level folkstyle. He beat Richie Figs 3 years ago, which is awesome, but it was in freestyle. One match doesn't tell me everything I need to know about the kid.

What other major wins does he have? Has he been in the room for awhile and beating the **** out of the guys in the room? A 23+ year old Kysen who has wrestled a **** ton of high level fokstyle matches beating a brand new to folkstyle kid isn't unfathomable to ask...

UWW site lists him at 22 years old. He might just not want to be in college that long.
