As of yesterday morning, there was no rain in the 10 day forecast. Then it rained most of the night and there is now rain predicted on and off all day today. WTF.
Wow, that is amazing, considering in Ames we got a short one-tenth overnight. None yesterday with highs in the lower 80s.

Completely untrained observer take: it seems like when areas experience weather patterns that create a lot of rain, that moisture feeds into the fronts that pass through and create more rain.

Yeah, the storms just kept reforming to our west so it would pour, stop, pour, stop. I think I had some weeds that grew a foot overnight lol
It was bizarre. You could look in about 3 different directions and see bright blue skys. But the rain just sat over Indianola for a good 2 hours and poured.
We were traveling back from the east and I was checking the weather a couple hours out from Des Moines to see what we might run into when we got closer. Saw that cell sitting over Indianola. Got to around Mitchellville and checked again and that darn thing was still sitting there. Really odd.

The good thing is they've been easy to pull since the ground is wet.
We had some ground water testing done at work this week, the water level beneath that monitoring well had risen nearly 15 feet from the previous check early this spring. NE Iowa.
I wish this was fall and they were talking football.
There absolutely is a feedback loop with dry weather/droughts and prolonged periods of rain/flooding.
