Morgan vs GMAC

Its like arguing which one was less bad.

It's easy if you go by record.

But you have to subtract Morgans first two seasons from him because LE gets those - and add Macs last 3 season to the end of Morgan's, because they're really his ... its new math.

I think you can include Diante in the group that belongs on the floor. I know he's not very respected on here and CR, but he's the 2nd best player in the program IMO. Otherwise, I totally agree with your assessment.

He turns the ball over too much for a pg.

But look at the pressure GMac puts on him to dribble upcourt. He hardly has any passing options. Too many of our players can't dribble against pressure, and don't want the ball unless they're in shooting position. If I was DG, I'd be fed up...

If Morgan had simply left and hadn't had players that would bolt, I would agree with you. However, since his players all left or otherwise didn't pan out, GMac has pretty much had to rebuild the entire program instead of just supplementing those players already here.

It's too bad Mac didn't really put much effort in retaining the previous players...

that's such BS. Blame Morgan for year 1... year 2 if you freaking need to. But Mac is a division 1 head coach - he needs to take credit eventually. Year 3: we have an absolute stud in CB and we completely suck. Every one of the players on the court is a "Mac guy". Man, I hope Morgan gets some credit if we win next year or the year after ... after all this is "his thing".

Ditto. These are ALL of Mac's guys.

I agree. I don't want McD fired now because the last thing we need is for Pollard to pick another questionable coach.

I AGREE we don't need or want Jamie Pollard choosing the next basketball coach....Let Mac coach until Jamie gets fired/ moves on and then let the new athletic director CLEAN UP THIS MESS OF A B-BALL PROGRAM!!!!!!

At the end of the day Jamie should go and take Mac with him. Sidebar, I REALLY do like Coach Mac as a person, and I've said this before, this program will not move forward under his leadership. It just wont.

Yeah, it's easy to retain a player(s) who's already declared for the draft before you were hired.

Did you forget to add a jimlad to your post??

yeah, cause choosing a new head coach is an exact science.:skeptical:

I think it would have been VERY easy to convince Blalock to stay and Blalock has said so himself, Mac chose to not put a whole lot of effort into it. Same goes with Carr and Degand...

I think the exact opposite. He was gonzo before Mac was hired. He could easily see he wasn't a lottery pick so I put it on him.

Jeremy, I love CF and have from the beginning. Can't thank you enough for bringing this thing to life.

That said, you are using a double standard on these coaches. I am not going to defend WM as I supported the decision to let him go. But I am into objective measures like wins and losses. Over a three year span of time, there is simply no argument that WM did a better job for ISU than GM has done. GM will now get the benefit of the doubt and a year four while WM was shown the door.
Great Post Urbbie....great analysis and Objectivity!!!!!

btw: greg is NOT leavin before jamie pollard...deal with it boys

If Mac would have done the same thing for him that he says he will do for Brackins then he would have stayed. Blalock even said that he would listen to what Mac had to say before he made a final decision. The FIRST thing a new coach needs to do is rerecruit the new players and keep as many as possible unless you think you can bring in better guys. I guess Mac thought he could bring in better guys...
