Illinois' length worries me a lot more than Wazzu's. They are basically all 6'6" or 6'7" except Hawkins who is a skinny 6'10" and Dainja who is a robust 6'9"

The only P5 teams we've faced this season who were worse defensively than Illinois were Okie State (beat them by 24) and Iowa (beat them by 25).

The only power 5 teams they played that were remotely close to Iowa State defensively were Tennessee (who beat them), MSU (went 1-1 against them), and Purdue (who beat them).

The more you dig into the numbers the better you have to feel about the matchup.

Tamin is on an absolute tear right now.

In the 5 post season games - he's:
9-17 from 3
11-11 from the FT line
27 assists
9 steals
4 turnovers
Thanks for sharing!

He keeps playing like this...household name next season

The 3 pt shooting.... unbelievable shift in a year. Can't imagine what growth he will make in other areas in the off season given his work ethic.

I was surrounded by Illinois fans at the game yesterday. They were all fine, but very high on their team. At halftime, I over heard a conversation "so if Illinois doesn't win it all, who will"? The consensus was Purdue.

They were also surprised that Michigan State lost.
That’s the expected outcome for fans that mostly watch games and listen to the talking heads on the BTN. IMHO, that network is actually more biased than the horns down network!!!

That is what you call Big10 brainwashing

Every BTN game I've watched (not exaggerating) has remarked that this is the best conference in the country. It is definitely a talking point piped to the commentators.

Just browsing the news and sport sites yesterday and this morning, Iowa State is a complete after-thought. Playing up the other 2 seeds and even NC state, but little to no mention of ISU. Here's hoping they blow out Illinois and make a statement.
When you are a two seed, AP#4 and take care of business against a #7, that’s the way it ought to be.

TJ and the boys Just taking care of business.

Everybody is going to pick Illinois to beat us. Hopefully it’s like 2000 like they did the same with UCLA.
Jay Williams was on ESPN earlier this morning absolutely talking us up big time. To your point, he mentioned that we are not being talked about enough by the national talking heads and how we are on a collision course with UCONN. He was pretty animated about it as well.

I'm not into the whole conference solidarity thing. I would cheer for KU against Germany 1945 but that's about it.

Give me the Big 12 doing very well in November and December and after that it doesn't matter. If there's a team I like from the conference I'll hope they make a run--Houston fits the bill for that.

I’ve watched them play a few times this year and defensively they are about as bad as Iowa. Our pace of play is going to really frustrate Illinois. Defensively if we can get them sped up and force them into tough shots I more than like our chances. Offensively, we can’t settle. Run the offense and make them defend for long possessions and they will fold. IMO when we are able to do that it absolutely fuels what we do on defense.
I think this is it. Can’t settle for OK shots against Illinois. Do that on a lot of possessions and ISU loses. Stay patient, run some offense and dont settle on any possessions and there will be lots of easy buckets.

Going to have to score quite a bit. Going to have to value every possession.

Williams and Josh Pastnor (former Memphis coach) have been pretty pro-ISU. Pastnor picked ISU over UConn when the brackets came out.

Not that it means anything since Greenberg and Bills were trying to make the case for the SEC as the best league.

Then I love how they ask Greenberg to explain why the SEC sucked so bad in the tourney.

His step backs yesterday were things that NBA scouts may notice. He really hasn’t shown that yet.

We have more than a chance. The number of teams that have scored 75 against isu is a small number. Baylor and Kansas are similar offensive teams. Isu can lose this game. But they have way more than a chance
We're 2.5 pt. favorite.
