*** Official #12 IOWA STATE vs #18 Baylor Game(Day) Thread ***

Who ripped you for that? They are stupid if so. Nobody can defend our performance at the charity stripe even when we are winning.

Paraphrasing but Acoustimac suggested that free throws weren't worked on at practice.

Nobody's saying the team is good at free throws and improvement wouldn't be great.

But to suggest it's not something they practice was pretty wild.

So where’s the extra .2 then? If they can determine kt was started .5 early, why not go to 1.5 instead of 1.2?
And to be honest, Iowa State was very fortunate the clock started early. It’s a huge advantage to inbound near mid-court vs grabbing a rebound under your own basket. It’s unfortunate they just ran out of time, but if the clock operator started the clock properly, Iowa State would have to heave a 3/4 court shot.

Our big guys were brutal tonight. Abused on the boards, couldn’t convert point blank opportunities, missed FTs.
Ward fouling out with almost 4 minutes left was essentially a death blow. Rob Jones was really bad all and King made it 6 on 4 for Baylor.

Why do we let a guy dribble all the way to the rim and no one jumps in front to at least slow him down. I just scratch my head!
If they’re gonna let him do that, foul him at the 3 point line. **** it

I usually don't like watching delayed replays if we lose. This one will be very curious to re-watch in 2 days (radio only for me). Wild roller coaster game.

It will be interesting to see what got Drew so upset, 2x!
For me it would have been an ALL-TIMER of re-watch.

Instead, I'm fairly certain I'm throwing it in the Cyclone pit of despair that will never see the light of day again.

I think he got his two technicals for being out of the coaches box. He was nearly on the three point arc on the first offense.

Not necessarily one I thought we would win but all things considered very disappointing to lose. On to Austin which I think is a much more talented team than Baylor despite the records so we better bring our A game to be competitive.

You acted like they don't work on free throw shooting. Like the coaches don't think it's important.

They're not a good shooting team, hence not a good free throw shooting team.
I didn’t act like anything. Free throw shooting all comes down to practice practice practice. its repetition, and building muscle memory. Saying “they’re not a good free throw shooting team" is an excuse and that’s all.

Not going to look this up as I don’t care enough. Either way, we suck at free throws to a level that is embarrassing for division 1 players.

They absolutely practice them, but then I would say practice more than you already are lol. Lipsey is the real enigma. A guard should never be that bad from the line.

Actually we gained a time out and the ability to throw the ball in. Just a shame he took one to two tenths too long to shoot that.

Are clock operators local, or brought in with the officials?
And TBF I can imagine a screw up there. King looked like he was going to go grab it then stopped and let it hit the ground.

Last second fog of war / fog of game. We didn't get organized fast enough on def, probably because we thought they would call a time out.

We played good/great for about 6 minutes while Baylor was melting down and the refs were throwing around Baylor Ts and fouls like Oprah. The rest of the game was pretty bad and we closed like crap. Too bad. It was there for the taking. Hopefully we don't have a hangover for Texas.
Agreed. If ISU won, I would had considered that a “stolen” win.
